Great playing! I am impressed that you’re able to sing and play at the same time - I can’t. Even on the easy stuff!!
Personally, I wouldn’t worry about it. Some covers I’ve done on one take - recording and video in one go (so wearing headphones) others I’ve clearly recoded the track and then shot the video separately - my outside ones are the most obvious examples. For me, it’s all about time and inspiration…!

Speaking off, my tribute for the week. I’m still trying to work the bloody twang out of the D string, not sure what’s going on there aside from basic newb. I’m almost about to go back to the Ernie Balls.
Goo Goo Dolls - Name
That’s a very good one indeed.
One thing a previous bass teacher told me is to “Record yourself every practice at home, it will help with your confidence and spot tiny mistakes, you’ll eventually get to a point that you feel confident enough to send it as reels to play in small bands for fun” …
I actually need to reassemble my webcam today… might try one of these days to record another attempt to Billie Jean…
@TheMadBassist Thank you, and hells yes. I got caught up messing around with the Katana Go right before I started that take and so by the time I got started I suddenly couldn’t remember if I’d hit record or not. I was almost tempted to start again cause I knew the eyeball to the watch would look bad but meh, it’s not like I’m a pro yet or anything
@Al1885 I’m not entirely convinced it’s nails, I was messing with it all weekend trying to pin it down and that was something I eyeballed. I did give them a good trim this morning just in case though, so we shall see how this evenings practice goes.
And heh, no. was checking the bleedin camera was recording.
@sunDOG Thank you It might be a useful skill if I could actually hold a tune properly as well It’s a bit hit and miss sometimes.
Looking like a dork or the double tracks? lol! Eh, nah, I’m good for the most part with it, if I stopped trying to push the envelope with what I can play it would probably be a lot better. This weeks was done in far fewer takes cause I could actually play this one without too much effort.
Thanks @Megatronpt. Heh, your teacher was wise, it’s a good technique for many skills.
oof, good luck, I haven’t even been back to Billie Jean yet… I really should
Thanks @TheMadBassist, it was the inspiration from your Tom Petty cover. Though this is more like a wife beater song than a patriotic kind of song the name suggested but on the 4th I used to hear this song playing over and over on the radio,
What is a “wife beater song”? And my girlfriend asks if there is also such a thing as a “boyfriend beater song”, as she feels the need to listen to that more often
Yeah - but I focussed on the bass. That is the cool thing about being a foreigner: I can succesfully ignore all lyrics.
I did read the lyrics now … but am still baffled a little bit: is there an actual “genre” of wifebeater songs??! I have never ever heared that expression!
