Post your covers! (2024)

Such a hauntingly beautiful song.

Awesome job my friend

Wow @faydout this is beautiful. Definitely stamina needed too, it’s a long one!

I saw original bass is by Nick Beggs one of my ultimate fav bassists. I knew he’d done some stuff with Steven Wilson.

Ladies, gentlemen, friends - today I have discovered punk!

Needing a quick shot of testosterone to get through the day, I stumbled on The Rezillos. Well, strickly speaking it was a cover by フジタヤスユキ - check his channel out sometime - he has loads of great punk covers.

Track - Somebody’s gonna get their head kicked in - The Rezillos

Nothing can beat the energy and simplicity, or the fast recording time! And I totally recommend the album.

I reached for the Squier, plugged in the Line 6 POD (Vintage amp) and off I went. No serious production necessary.

That wasn’t too bad actually, the bass doesn’t come in until measure 28 (65 bpm) and there’s another long gap halfway through. I had some technical issues getting it on “tape” and video. I ended up recording 3 times and the video would freeze about a half second in every time, and I wouldn’t have any indication until I was done. So no video ( @Morkai ).

Grazie mille, it absolutely is. I was looking to scratch the prog itch and this was a nice, easy one to dip my toes in with.

Oh my gosh thank you. I thought it sounded awesome, and truth be told, I couldn’t believe I made those sounds come out of a musical instrument. I’m kind of glad the video got hosed because there was some kind of crazy indoor dust storm at 2am last night by the time I was hitting that last whole note and knew I’d pulled it off.

I’ll forgive ya this time… I’ll be honest too, my hearing is starting to go for sure, and you know how people hear better when they see peoples lips moving?, I’m pretty sure it’s same for me and the bass… I follow it a lot better when I can see the action.

Those dust storms will get ya for sure.

Love that interlude, no way you were cranky drumming that  I never heard this version of the song, great job Paul!

I do enjoy the punk rock. And learning a two minute song is almost always more manageable than a five minute song.
Good job Ed!

I was inspired by @Adampalooza who posted a cover (first recording none the less) of a song he learned yesterday. So, my goal today was to find one also. Obviously not perfect, the timing is off a bit and if you watch really closely, you’ll notice that the bass track wasn’t recorded in the same take as the video.

ETA: Now that I’ve watched it through, it looks like I’m taking on the Krist Novoselic bass face.

sounds good! I’m going to have to do a deeper dive into that band, this is the second time they’ve come up this week.

Oh I loved JAMC back at uni - I had Honey’s dead on more or less constantly in the summer of 94. Great times…

Yay! After you have taken the huge step to post a “real” video, I feel obliged to do the same. Merde!
(Did some video takes already, and had to stop myself from resembling a shaven sheep and look randomly/stupidly in all directions while playing. Also I need to find a way to control my knee, that gets really jumpy when playing something exciting).
Which video filter did you use to appear so cool?

Did I tell you that I really really really like the tone of that Reverend?

Whoa JAMC! Was just talking about them earlier today in that in my late teens/20s, I loved them and was going for a Jim Reid look myself

Nice, these same day covers are impressive.

That can only be a good thing, surely?!

I’ve never head that song or band before but I like it. Great job! Love that tone

Thank you everyone. I guess I didn’t realize how many JAMC there were here.

Thank you, this is the 2nd one, and oddly enough, the first was my first day one cover. That Reverend that you like so much is my battle axe in both videos as well. So, I think you owe @Morkai and I 2 videos

I was a little too young to be into them in the mid 80’s but anyone into that wall of sound in the early 90s has to acknowledge JAMC and Cocteau Twins as some of the pioneers of the sound.

At the time, I wasn’t a big Nirvana fan. I was too hipster at 14 and was already on my way down the goth path by '91. I certainly won’t be hitting myself in the head with any of my basses. :upside_down_face:

Thank you so much. I have to credit the bass on this one. Those triad pickups are really somethin else.
