Post your covers! (2024)

This sounds like a fun one to do, well done

Thanks @Glenn !

Yep it’s an interface and multieffect in one - you just plug your bass into the POD, and the POD plugs into the computer. The controls take a little bit of getting used to but I prefer the nobs and dials to a touchscreen, and I generally only use the amp sim, overdrive and compression anyway

Love that growl :ok_hand: Great video too, what do you use to add effects etc?

Ok, just got a mix I am happy with, so here’s my first cover in a while.

I did this one to put my new DAW through its paces, plus to play with a couple new (to me) synths. Also got to use both of my basses

Cold - The Cure

No melodyne on the vocals either, a first for me

The original doesn’t have a bass guitar bassline but I made one up, because another cover I saw did and they rocked it. It’s just chugging the same phrase as the Prophet-1.

DAW: Bitwig Studio
Bass: Yamaha BB734a (bassline), Yamaha SBV-800MF (solo)
Synths: u-he RePro-1 and Diva (self-made patches)
Drums: Bitwig Drum Sampler
Mic: Shure SM58
Amp/Cab sim: Kuassa Cerberus
Effects: Bitwig Chorus+, gate, EQ+; UAD Distressor, Softube VCA Compressor, PSP Lexicon PSP-42 delay. Limiters were d16 Frontier.

Video is just AI images. I do not know these ghosts myself.

Very cool :+1:…I also much prefer the balance of this mix (to the one I heard in the practice fragments thread)

Thanks! And yeah that was definitely a work in progress for sure.

I love how you tried to get Robert’s Sussex accent in there. Amazing stuff Howard.

Hah thanks!

My English is so mutated by Japan at this point.

Thanks Jerry!

Hey, you never know! It wouldn’t be too bad if it was a chugging line (96 bpm), but all that dang string crossing took so long to get.

Thanks Ed!

Nice improv and chill tune! Never heard that before.

Thanks sunDOG!

Nice! Yeah that syncopation is tough. Are you going to cover the Temptations version?

When I think of “Ball of Confusion” covers, I think Love and Rockets. That’s the best one I know of

Thanks! So nice to breathe some new life into this bass. It was given to me by a friend, belonged to a guy in his family who used to be in band, but the bass was left untouched in a closet for about 20 years. I think it has many more songs to play yet

Great job with the bridge, that’s such a fun part to play! Lovin the chilis more than ever lately, got a couple lined up to do soon.

Wow! This is so cool because it’s all you, no backing track. I wouldn’t know where to begin trying to make something like this, but I sure enjoyed it. There are some banging thunderstorms moving through my area right now and this just fits.
