I am so glad that I started recording video and audio separately. The video, I’m still working out how expressive to be (getting comfortable being me on camera). I’m a dancer when I play and it’s easy to just not dance and stand there like a statue. This was an attempt to be somewhere in the middle. The audio, for the take that made it to the video, I started losing my pick about 1/3 of the way through and spent the rest of the song trying to get it back in place because there’s no rests for me to gather myself. The couple of missed notes were me trying to not fling it across the room accidentally.
Thank you, it’s a really fun one to play with the slides and those consistent 90 bpm eighth notes all the way through were good to use for practicing strumming with. This was the first song I really used any kind of real delay and chorus on, to help give my sound that sort of dreamy atmosphere the guitar has going on all the way through. I guess I hadn’t noticed before how much the bass in that song drives the melody where the guitar sits just a bit back.
Thank you. She’s (definitely the Yin to the Triad’s Yang) very easy to play. It’s the only bass that I have with a 38MM nut and I feel like I can stretch across half the fretboard. Sound wise she’s got a fuller bottom end to her sound and I stand by my initial impression that of the pair the G&L has a more sophisticated sound. For songs with grit and OD, the Triad is a beast and is where he shines. As far as mixing it in Garageband or Logic with other instruments, that’s a toss up. Both basses handle mids and highs really well and are plenty “hot” for being passive. I can’t compare to an active bass, I still haven’t done more than noodle with one in a store.
Thank you I just gave it another listen. I’m really pretty pleased with how the sound turned out. The little bit of boom on the A was nice and I thought the effects worked well. I was worried about turning the delay on, on my reverb pedal. It really doesn’t sound great on it’s own but really added to the song when recorded alongside the rest of the instruments. I had my phase pedal turned on when I started working out the recording but it really fought the chorus pedal.
I love the DR Black Beauties I switched too, sound so much better
Yeah… I really should have let this one cook for another week.
That dang twang on the d string was driving me nuts, definitely threw me off on the slow parts. I’m so tempted to re-record this one.
I’ve been trying recently to tame the side to side dancing (my husband and son were making fun of me the other day for it) but it’s almost impossible, I don’t even realise I’m doing it half the time.
Thanks so much for watching all of those, and for all the tips and compliments Timing is definitely something I’m working, on as well as not having to look at my fret board in the first place.
Is that poor form here? I still play one every day that I wish I’d held off and recorded after I’d given myself a week to get it down better. I need to make an @faydout user index post and just post it there.
