Paul Weller - Broken Stones
Thought I’d pull the P-style bass out for this one. First cover I’ve done with the LaBellas.
A good friend of mine and I met Paul in an alley next to the Vic Theatre in Chicago in the early '90s, after camping out all day in front of the venue. We spoke, but I couldn’t understand a word he was saying. He must have thought me an idiot!
What a great show it was, though. Love this tune and bass line!
Wow, that’s mellow, @fennario! Great playing, it looks like you were really enjoying that!!
That’s a fantastic sound from that combo, great cover. Groovy AF
Oh that brings back some very good memories.
Great job @fennario !
Suicidal Tendencies with a Steinberger? I think you have finally conslusively proven that any bass can be used for any music…
brb I’m going to try hardcore punk with my Hofner
Thanks man!!
Yes!! Maybe some Perry Como on a BC Rich Warlock…
Thanks SD!!
That was exceptional playing Justin! Nice!
Well done fennario! Nice and mellow. Enjoyed it with my morning coffee.
Great job again brother!
Sorry to here that Travis, wishing all gets back to normal soon, especially for your drummer.
Got some time to catch up on so many great covers!
@AndreaJayne Nice job, and you sang it! I like that purple burst a lot.
@Ed It was great to hear that Kinks song again, haven’t in a long time and the bass tone fit just right.
@faydout Very cool, first time hearing it, there probably aren’t a lot of covers of this out there yet, nice and steady on that intro.
@sunDOG I love this song! Its sad but with swagger, great choice, and nice job serving the song.
@JerryP I always love your Beatles covers, sounded so good!
@Justin3 Dang that intro is insane, I think this is going in my driving mix for tomorrow. I hope I don’t get pulled over
@fennario Great pocket man! You are one smooth cat
Thanks @sunDOG ! I was definitely feeling it!
Thanks @Nebel ! That’s kind AF!
Thanks @Ed !
Thanks @JerryP ! It does seem like a morning coffee sort of tune!
Thanks Trav! Man, I hope everything works out with your bandmates. That was some pretty devastating damage. On the bright side, I’ve seen so many people come together quickly and selflessly to help with rescues and supplies. Restores a bit of faith in humanity.
You know, Dan, flattery will get you everywhere. Thanks!
This one needs no introduction, such fun, @Barney I had to join ya The bridge is really tough, did the best I can for now. This Cort is the first bass I ever owned, got it for $60 from a pawn shop in 1999. It’s mostly collected dust since. Here 25 years later after some B2B lessons and a few cranks of the truss rod its back in the game. The weight balance is a little awkward, but its a funky little bass, and I like the sound of the P-Pickup a lot. Thanks for listening! (Sorry for the autofocus, can’t seem to figure out how to stop that)
That was outstanding Dan! I thought I was listening to the original! great job!
Thank you, @Whying_Dutchman!
Thank you, @JerryP!
Looking forward to it, @faydout!!
Ha, @Linda, consider it done!
Thanks, @Ed, that was my intent
Thanks, @TheMadBassist!
Great job brother!
