Post your covers! (2024)

Here is my 2nd Nirvana cover…the song is from In Utero but I am playing to the live version from the album From the Muddy Banks of the Wishkah…

This live version is 146bpm compared to 138bpm for the studio version, it makes quite a bit of difference to the groove and I really like how tight the chorus groove plays in this version…you lose a bit of the meandering quality of the verses but the great guitar solo still brings that feeling

Nirvana - Milk it (live)

Since I do this to chart my progress it is recorded in a single take (audio+video together)
I used my MIJ P Bass into my pedalboard then recorded into Logic

I realized last week that I haven’t posted a Halloween cover yet and I didn’t have one picked out to cover. I landed on this one, originally by Misfits aptly named Halloween.
First showing of a guitar in my covers, thank goodness for punk rock and power chords. Downside of punk rock is that the drums are fast, it doesn’t look fast, but my right let was feeling it after doing a few takes.

That’s awesome, it’s just kind of weird that the whole band has matching outfits. :metal:

I’ve got a Halloween cover recorded, I just haven’t gotten in for a hair cut in 6 weeks so I’m waiting till Thursday to record the video part.

Not my favourite Nirvana song, @g13dip, but great playing. Nice cat, btw! We have an Oriental, basically a colour coated Siamese, incredible personalities!

Very tight playing, @Qohelet-David, well done!!

Again, fantastic playing!!

@Paul_9207 steals the show once again! Damn impressive!

Yes, @John_E, but I’ve got to the stage in my life where I don’t really care any more what other people think…

I wasn’t using it in this song, it’s just sits there most of the time. There are some songs where I have trouble muting all the strings, so I use it then, but to be honest, I don’t use it that often. Oh, it’s actually not a felt wrap, but one of my daughter’s hair bands

That’s strange. I checked it and it is synced when I play it…

I quite like it

Again, thanks for taking the time to look at the videos and comment!! Much appreciated!!

Thank you sir!! I receive your kind words.

“Circumstances” was one of the hardest songs I’ve ever learned, even by Rush standards. It’s so fast and melodic, as is the case with pre-80’s Rush. Definitely hard not to take a little pride in that cover.

Yellow by Coldplay

A simple one but the bass drives the tune along and keeps everything in time.

A nice one!

Yo! That was awesome! The bass and drums especially sounded great.

I need to start practicing with a pick. I just absolutely hate it. It just takes away the joy for me. I feel like I’m being a snob saying that but it just feels gross.

It’s going to burn me when I want to play the fast punky songs I love.

You did great with a pick in this one nice fast snappy tone.

Very well done ChrisoBass!

If you don’t like it, then don’t do it. Just work on your chugging speed with fingers. You can get those fingers going quick enough that you should be alright for most anything you’d want to play.

Cool! As you say, the bass line keeps it moving!

Yea that’s the approach I’ve been following. I’ve been a little lucky the songs I have to learn there is one that could use a pick but sounds fine fingerstyle. I just want to be able to play some of Rancid’s gnarly bass solos one day :sunglasses:

Awesome! The one man band…

I demand one where you sing too. Don’t care how bad you suck. It must be done.

Very few (if anyone here) tackle the volume of wish you do, this is very very impressive

This was one of the first CDs I ever bought, was on a family vacation in North Carolina in 2002 or 2003. I remember it was right around the time that Johnny Cash released American IV and my dad really wanted that album so we stopped into a cool record store somewhere in NC. I remember listening to this album on repeat for the rest of the trip on my Walkman. Funny how certain albums and songs can tether you so firmly to specific places in time.

Couldn’t find tabs anywhere. These aren’t complete but it should be enough to learn it
