Post your covers! (2024)

I’ve been playing this one quite a lot as it’s on the band set list and it’s one I have to constantly practice as it’s a finger workout - thought it about time I actually recoded it!!

Two bands I’m not familiar with, but great job on both of them:

@fennario I liked the song and you have nice tone on this.

@Old_WannaBe Great to have you back. Awesome playing!

That was great, it’s a really catchy upbeat tune. It looked like a fun and fast one to play too

Yeah, it was fun. Figured it out by ear as well, so that was good. I thought I had it down and then right before I recorded noticed that the strumming pattern changed up on certain bars in the chorus. Biggest problem I am having with chugging eighths is the transitions between bars, esp. if there is a position shift involved. Sometimes I need to drop the “and” of 4 in order to make the transition on time.

Other cool thing about doing that song was figuring out that the “sound good box”
__ I __ is a I-V-VI-IV pattern played down from the root.

Stop That Train - Keith & Tex

Been a bit busy and a way for a couple of weeks, time to get caught up with this head bobbin tune.

Originally a Ska song, but Keith and Tex covered in their signature rocksteady style.

Spent quite a bit of time trying to get a fat, dark and loose tone. Used my PJ Bass with neck & bridge pick-up all the way up and a Origin Effects 64 Black Panel Preamp that emulates the 64 Fender Showman amp, used in Jamaica at that time, played thru 2 x 15 speakers.

I used to listen to a bit of SKA many moons ago, not sure if I’ve heard that song or not though. It was good to hear you playing it either way
