Sweet. I remember kids back in the day singing “We’re gonna walk down to KMART TO BUY SOME SHOES.” lol
too funny. Yea man this was one of the first songs I remember loving on MTV as a teen. He’s probably still playing live I’m sure! Great times
Thank you, you are entirely too kind. This is one of my “put a pin in this one” songs that I’ll redo in a year or so, so the issues playing it are okay for now.
I’ve heard the ME versions but tbh I almost always default to the MC version. I may have to work on those Modern English ones. The bones of the songs are the same but very different vibes. I really dig the more raw, guitar driven versions more than I remembered. Especially Gathering Dust.
Love it Dude, amazing job! So I’ve got a history with this song. My (now) 26 year old and I, when she was 3/4/5/6… every time she and I were in the car just the 2 of us, would ask for Parklife and we’d do a duet at the top of our lungs. I’d take the verses with my awful cockney accent, youngling would take the chorus. I can still mention this song to her and it puts a smile on her face. Even though she’s into hardcore metal and stuff.
Thank you brother! Very much appreciated! I appreciate the sub as well. I had already subbed to you looks like!! That’s an awesome story of you and your child, I can see y’all yelling it now haha
Great job brother and nice bass! I may have the same one haha my pick guard is tortoise shell. I don’t play it much since I use a 5 now, but it’s not going anywhere!! Anyway, love this song. Never heard it before but it’s great and you played it great!
Never heard of this band, but it’s really cool music. Song is great and you played very good dude!! Love the black and white video too, extremely cool! I’m gonna check more out from them
Love the cover. That new bass (and you) sound awesome!
Great job Travis and nice selections! I didn’t know anything about the Electric Avenue backstory until now.
Thanks! That’s super cool, yes this also has a tort pickguard(a little hard to tell with my weird basement), its a 2021 MIM model, love the way the maple neck feels.
Thanks so much Matty! Having a great time playing it.
Thanks brother!! Yea it’s a cool story. Never knew it myself until recently, but man how crazy is that we have the same bass?? Mine is the same exact one!!! It’s a fantastic bass!!!
Really? That is wild! You’ll have to dig out sometime for a cover.
DOKKEN - BREAKING THE CHAINS https://youtu.be/y35pngzAcqM?si=c5uX75j7J2o5hvhB Here ya go brother. It’s an older cover I did, sound quality on the song isn’t good and my playing was off slightly here and there, but you can see the bass clearly. They are an exact match! The end of the video you can see it the best.
Rockin the Dokken brother!! Love it, exact same bass
Absolutely haha old 80’s rock dude at heart here!! That’s wild we have the same bass! I have a two week break before I drop another cover. I’m taking next week off, Thanksgiving and my birthday next Sunday so, but the week after I may drop the next cover with the Fender P.
Yeah it’s the song that solidified that “that radio Melt With You” band was actually next-level good, and not pop
Gathering Dust is an amazingly good song, one of my favorites, and like a cross between post-punk and Lemmy-era Hawkwind or something. So good. I still listen to it all the time.
That whole album is actually solid.
ahaha, I barely remember it but I saw these guys live in a stadium opening for someone in my Peak Metalhead years in Jr. High. Rock on
My bass cover of the Nirvana song Very Ape from In Utero…really like this song and it is fun to play, but it is very slidey and at a good clip, plus I tend to slide very hard, so my concentration face is on in this one
I tried to push the boat out on my FX pedals for this cover too, so would be interested in comments about the tone
MIJ P Bass through 11 pedals then recorded in Logic
Nirvana - Very Ape
Sweet!!
