Oh sorry, I think it’s totally good. It keeps the presence of the bassline but steps it back just enough that the vocals seem more present.
I also like how smoothly you played it. I’m learning that simple chuggers are actually really hard to play because timing and keeping an even sound between notes/fingers takes skill.
Just because it’s easy to play doesn’t mean it’s easy to get right.
100% agree, it’s way too easy to want to want to go too fast a lot of the time. I can’t remember which song it is off the top of my head, but if you really want to break your brain try doing a simple chugger and toss in some syncopated 8ths for funsies.
Sorry, @totyasrac, you are going to have to start posting videos of you actually playing! That’s very good - I forgot I was listening to a bass cover!
I saw Queensryche at the Hammersmith Odion, London, on the 15th Nov ‘90 (according to Google). My mate and I had seats in the front row. The band were freakin’ amazing! Absolutely amazing! Probably, one of the best gigs I’ve ever been to.
These songs are sooooo hadd to play even though appears to be overly simple - keeping the tempo/pace and staying in the pocket is extremely hard. Yet you did it, excellent job!
Yep, that’s exactly right, @MattyD. I actually found putting the transition notes made it a little easier to keep on top of the rhythm, gave me something to focus on…!
I recorded this one between 6:15 and 6:35am, having got U.K. at 5:20, made a coffee, and played the song through a couple of times. I then got my daughter up for school, made sure she had breakfast, ironed two shirts (one for her and one for me), drove her to school, then drove to the office. You think I’m joking…I’m not
I too have had this experience I saw Queensryche front row when they were touring the “Empire” album … cool thing about that tour, they were also secretly touring “Operation Mindcrime” as well …
Opening act comes on … does 3 tunes and leaves…
Then we got 2 FULL length shows from Queensryche… WAS EPIC!
I’ll have another one posted, probably tomorrow (I’ll record it tonight) of Alex James’ basslines. Have at it. There’s a ton of great stuff there that I haven’t done yet. If I might make a suggestion, check out the Universal’s bass line. That’s a lot of fun to play.
The one I’m recording tonight is a pretty easy bass line, but the effects for it are pretty wild and that’s what makes that one so much fun.
Lovin the Janes covers @faydout and @Paul_9207. Mountain Song is such a legendary bass riff and Classic Girl is just a beautiful song, you both sounding really good!
