Post your covers! (2024)

Thanks guys! I’ve been wanting to cover Pixies for a while now too, @faydout . As a matter of fact, my daughter transcribed the sheet music for Here Comes Your Man for me, and I’ve been meaning to record a version of it. Maybe in the new year, I have a few others in the hopper first.

Thanks @beaurapp ! You, @sunDOG and @mattyd are living my dream! I have no time to commit to a band, but it would be super cool one day. So cool to see you guys each having a blast playing with your respective bands!

The other option ( for those who can’t commit FT to a band ) is open mic nights at local bars / pubs… Bring your bass… plug in and jam! Expectations are low… and its great fun too  You also get to meet others you can jam with later on a non-professional basis

When I was gigging… we didn’t have the luxury of doing our own mix… Sound tech was assigned by our agent. so some shows we had a good mix… sometimes… not so much… LOL … depended on who we got.

We had one guy who did sound with Mellencamp, and Metallica… MAN those were our best shows… he had a WIKKID good ear … and would walk the room, to see how the sound was everywhere in the bar… STUPID good skill

Edit: He would change the angles of the PA stacks so the sound could get to the little areas where you play pool or darts … he was ‘accoustically AWARE’ … Loved him.

Also he had that long curly hair … dark… and if you put a stovepipe hat on him, you would swear he was Slash… :stuck_out_tongue: He moved slow… he went by ‘Sloth’

Happy holidays. A gift to myself, I caught up with the covers. Here are some wonderful trip down the memory lanes

Rudolph, the red nose reindeer by BabyFace

St Paul by Cory Wong.
I’m getting ready to do a remake of this one so it will be fun.

Smooth Operator by Sade

FrogVille by Cory Wong

Broad walk by Cory Wong

And my all time favorite song and cover is
Change the world live at Staples Center by Eric Clapton

Hopefully next year my editing Kung Fu is better and so will my guitar skills so can try to do what @Paul_9207 is doing.

Thanks everyone for participating and making this thread so much fun and offers so much inspiration I have such a blast making them and learning new editing skills since my first cover video. The new members really give us a run for the money, I just love it.

K … you are INSANELY talented man  I am thankful you are here to inspire us n00bs

Not sure if you do “requests” But… I’d dig seeing you do “I Can’t Turn You Loose’” by Otis Redding … made popular by the Blues Brothers :stuck_out_tongue:

( i’m workin on it )

You are next level… and I’m here for it  Thank you for showing where bass can go

That was some watch session you had, @Al1885!!

This was the Spector NS2000/4. I’ve recently sold it was I really didn’t get on with it. It was beautiful to look at, but I didn’t like the way it felt to play - this was the second Spector I’ve bought, then sold. They are obviously not my thing…

Flat would on the fretless. I heavily EQ’ed this one to get that rock tone out of the bass.

No. While I prefer finger-style, I’m reasonably happy with a pick. I think the first pick song I did was back in March / April, when I’d managed to give myself a blister

A 4. Most of the time the drummer is hiding

Thanks for taking the time to go through everyone’s videos @Al1885, and for taking the time to comment! It is much appreciated!!

Awesome job on all of these. Now the only question I have is, do you own ALL of those basses or do you record your covers in a music store??? Haha  nice collection of planks! And thanks for sharing your feedback on everyone!

CHEVELLE - ENDLESSLY https://youtu.be/I5NqSFBvcdg?si=zVW3y2eERLGbexfQ Ok so this song is actually played in drop B. When I say low, I mean LOW. It almost drowns out the vocals. Great thing I have the 5 string. Didn’t need to dowtune whooooo  enjoy

Great cover bro… a bit hard to hear the music behind ya … but hey… can’t say it was ‘Justice for All’ LOL … can DEFINIETELY hear the bass!

Thanks man. Yea i was afraid it wouldn’t be heard great due to the low B. Eh, it is what it is. I don’t have the most sophisticated set up for recording. I’m not gonna sweat it. A cover is a cover in my book.
