Preach!
Thanks a lot, Al!
Difficult to hear, but the playin’ good and in the pocket!
It is a lot, but it has been exciting! I keep pretty busy as a social worker, so I doubt I could do it with kids or any other responsibilities!
This was mostly just fun with my brother, but I did recently audition and joined a local cover band that focused on The Clash and The Pretenders! It feels like a second job getting this set list down sometimes, but it has been a blast! I’ll def put up recordings when we play a gig. The rest of the band is pretty experienced and gigs with other local bands.
I’m taling to a guy who’s doing a solo shoegaze thing atm but looking to put an actual band together. I just told him my level of experience this morning so I expect to hear back soon thanking me for inquiring.
I hope you get it! I thought I would get the same response. Easy to be hard on ourselves, but we’re maybe a bit better than we think!
I love that your many basses are accompanied by your many (well done) covers!
Do you ever cover any funk or seat moving grooves? I really liked how snappy/groovy your playing is and I’d love to hear something like that sometime.
Fake it till you make it brother! And from what I’ve seen you don’t have to fake too much. Don’t sell yourself short at all. As long as you tell him you are just getting started the rest is on him (and you to practice).
Honestly even if it ends up just being a session or 2 that’s a few that you’ve played with someone else and that experience is gold.
All Cory Wongs are funk😂
How about these
You are free by lake street dive
Got ya movin by Funky times
I can’t help
If that’s not funky enough .
You got me movin! Love that little headless bass what is that?
I love this video soooo much! I used to work for a woodshop and the sounds of the CNC, sanders, planers, etc stir my heart!
Amazing to see how much they do on the CNC and how it’s basically caulked into place for milling
You’d be surprised how many more hands on hours they put on each bass. My first one was in the hundreds hours.
Oh I was watching and even with automation I have no doubt it took that long. That was some beautiful intricate work.
Al, what a maestro, dude. Part of why I love bass is that it’s the part of the music that makes people want to shake their booties. Not really music I listen to a lot but I’d love to able to bust something even half this good out someday.
You sound amazing! Also grateful you stick around to share with us newbies.
One more cover of “Anything, Anything@ by Dramarama from the studio session with my brother and friend. I enjoy the banter here, particularly when there is a little slip up .
Same problems with the vocals, unfortunately. Definitely going to try some of what y’all suggested next time.
That one looks like fun to play Great job
That’s cool man.
Say…Are you wearing ear plugs? That drummer is going at it quite vigorously. Just be aware.
Thank you! It is a fun and easy one!
