INXS - SUICIDE BLONDE https://youtu.be/azmIb171_KUsi=fkgN1vvTHXnxyVh- Continuing my love of the 80’s and 90’s, I’m finding myself on this INXS kick, no pun intended…………since they had a huge album called “Kick” Ok, maybe I did intend to add the pun. The world may never know. Anyway, hope you enjoy this cover! Thanks
I’m getting better at string switching without cutting the notes off to switch (which is something that people don’t really tell you how tricky that actually is lol) and my alternate picking is starting to feel more natural. I’ve been really trying to get playing with a pick down since it’s probably my weakest attribute of playing.
This is my first post here (and my first public upload to YouTube!)
I’ve been working on this song for a while now, each time fine-tuning the nuances of the bassline, which I think is pretty sweet.
Any feedback on my performance, technique, audio/video settings and others is very welcome. Also feel free to like the video on YouTube, I’m trying to build my online presence bit by bit
Another video shot by my 9 year old
daughter, while on a cold and damp Easter holiday in Swanage, Dorset, U.K.
While I didn’t get my feet wet this time, we did have to move after nearly getting splashed by the waves crashing onto the end of the pier, which is where we were originally standing
We had quite an audience for this one!
As you can see, it’s the Steinberger again (such a convenient bass to take away on vacation!), direct into GarageBand, via the Scarlett Solo. In GarageBand, I utilised the Classic Amp simulation, plus a bit of overdrive to get the gritty, live tone I wanted. The bass track was played twice.
Some sounds were very boomy and loud to my ear, some sections you were a bit too quiet (from 2:07 to 2:23). I love the slide at 2:39, but the note (A#?) at 2:42 was too loud. Maybe you can play around with volume/compression and normalization. Not that I’m an expert on producing.
My goal would be to have a consistent tone first, then complimentary dynamics for song sections (as in drive the song when there’s energy going, quiet down for more relaxed sections - whatever you think is musical), and then maybe accents.
Disclaimer - I usually skip the producing and try to play like I want to, then normalize and compress stuff. So, I’m not coming from a point of “it has to be this way”, just trying to offer you ideas.
