Nice. I play this all the time, one of my go-to’s.
Floodland is such a great album. Apparently Eldritch played the bass on it himself and Patricia Morrisson only played the songs live.
I love basically the entire album. I covered “Driven Like The Snow” off of it, in fact; love the keyboards in that one too. This one is all me, my bandmate didn’t kick in on this one:
One other thing that turned out ok was surprisingly the vocals (my vocals usually suck badly ). I can’t sing like Eldritch so I didn’t even try; the vocals are double tracked both physically and then redoubled in software to give that vocal effect.
That’s my Yamaha SBV-550 (my previous SBV before my current SBV-800MF) for the bass.
I’m at the same point somewhat, I’ve had a long period without doing any cover (for some good reasons actually). Now I want to do more covers again. The first months of 2024 had not been a bad start for me.
I really love Kuassa Cerberus for this. I can pretty easily make it sound like either a RB/Backline or a generic Ampeg SVT-like. It’s got modes for three types of tube and solid state amps.
Phase Plant is pulling some solid weight there too for the synths. Came out sounding very vintage '80s synth-like. Pretty easy to make something like a Prophet in it.
Been working pretty hard on my personal challenge song for May. Needed to get better at scales and muting so this one was pretty tough. It’s not perfect because I’m cutting the notes off a bit too early sometimes but overall I’m pretty proud of how it turned out. I feel like I’m now playing at a comfortable speed so I want to start working on some vibrato in the coming months. This is my favorite Metallica song.
I think if you were playing this in a live setting with a band — no one would ever know you made any sort of mistake at all. We are often very critical in the isolation we play in.
Quite frankly, I didn’t notice anything bad with this at all, thought it was fantastic!
