Well played, Ant! Back in my high school days, I’ll always remember a band with a really good singer covering Heart winning Battle of the Bands. They have some great songs. Very funny story about your Aunt & Uncle!
Great job, Duncan! Very cool background. And you’re still the defending champ of “Bass face of the week”!
Thanks Andrea…. Yea, the Lakland fretless is a keeper!! Such an easy bass to play! When I put the video together on that cover, I wanted emphasis placed on the songs lyrics more than anything else. Glad you “didn’t” notice it when you first watched…
Thanks @fennario ! Yeah, I really like the arrangement with the mandolin, violin, piano and pedal steel. That last part was fun to practice on loop.
Thanks, Andrea! The original was in 1962 by the Drifters…an R&B number that was really popular.
Thanks, Jerry! I appreciate it.
Ha! I don’t think you’ll ever see me post any sort of metal, but I have been working on a faster song…I recorded it on Saturday and got the video all edited, but held it back as my timing was off in a few places and I want to get it right. I do need to consistently practice faster tempos. I’ll hopefully get a good take of that song and release it soon.
Bit of fun with the octave pedal on this classic from 1992! Its double tracked with clean bass, then with the Black Country Customs ‘The 85’ octave pedal quite low just to add some substance.
It’s good to have a reason to use these pedals occasionally!
Enjoy your weekend Killer - Adamski & Seal
Definitely a song from the 80’s soundtrack of our lives. Cool bass line. As I wrote on your YT channel, I like the drums and then the slide after the bridge. Well played!
I always think of the Go-Gos for this one, FB3 is awesome too but this song, for me, is pure Go-Gos. It is especially notable because it was written by both Terry Hall (Specials, FB3) and Jane Wiedlin, and Jane Wiedlin is awesome.
Ok so I also had a crush on Belinda Carlyle. It’s cool, we all did.
It’s funny though because I appreciate Fun Boy Three a lot and the Specials were amazing.
OMG that tone from the Reverend!!! So so good.
fantastic job all around.
The Yamaha is a bit too high in mix for my ears, but playing is steller as always sir!
