The Foo Fighters - Learn To Fly

Another cover from the hotel room
sessions, and another from Amsterdam, where I partly was, this week.

This is a fabulous song, and I’m loving the sound of the cheap, crappy Hofner Shortie travel bass! While I doubled the bass track (played it twice), the only effect is a little GarageBand compression. The bass has got a lovely bite to it, IMHO. Must be all that tone wood :joy:. I forgot to take a strap with me, that’s why I’m sitting down and not moving much. The lack of body means the bass is prone to sliding off the leg, meaning you spend half the time micro-shifting it back in to a reasonable playing position. Frustrating, but manageable

As I said on YT, what a great tune, top job!
@JerryP I love your ‘Old Fart Radio’ choices Jerry, real toe tappers. Cool intro to the video too, well played.

Super well done Jerry, a song I don’t remember but it reminds me of a favorite song of mine that I’m working on, especially one of the riffs.
Leave That Thing Alone by RUSH.

Well done, good sound, and nice room… :jbass: :sunglasses:

Well… after much frustration getting my recording setup going with my new PC, I’m back in business. This is one of the tunes I’m going to be performing this summer at an upcoming gig in Kalamazoo, MI with some old friends, bandmates and some new faces.

Thanks much Ed!

I used it to dampen some of the highs that I was hearing. It helped make the tone match the original recording.

I see your denim, but I don’t see leather.

Some great tones with those slides Justin - not to mention some fancy high string finger work thrown in…. Hope you and Sheba have some fun in Kalamazoo!!
