@Al1885 - my man! THANK YOU for all the great feedback, that is nothing short of epic. You, sir, are the man.
Ha! To be quite honest I had my hands full just trying to figure out the two extra strings and the multiscale aspect. It’s more fun to noodle with it TBH
Thank you! The LaBella DTF’s totally make it.
Thank you, thank you!
Honestly Al, I have no idea what strings are on there! I just left whatever the previous owner had put on. They are rounds though, about all I know!
Well played, fennario! As I wrote on your YT page…that is a very cool song between the lyrics and the sound (guitar and organ). Never heard it before and will have to listen to that again.
Yeah, I dig the sound! In the Ghost lore, this song was fictionally released in 1969 by a previous incarnation of the band. So it has a very 60’s feel to it, IMHO.
I screwed up and forgot to check it on a wide variety of speakers, so this definitely sounds better with headphones or at least speakers/monitors with good bass response.
Yep, another BTB! I think this is the goldilocks, bass, honestly. I got it for a great deal and gave it some love. It has the Nordy Big Splits (love!) and I added a DG Tone Capsule. DragonSkin+ strings. I’ve come to the same conclusion, everything about this feels right including the 35" scale. Definitely my go-to right now!
To me Nordy is the modern-day Bartolini. They share similar sound profile, kinda mid and lower mid forward at rest. I have a few Nordy installed it’s the goto when I need that sound.
They were raved about on some other bass forums so I figured I’d give them a try since my dog literally ate my Truthear Crinacle Zeroes and I needed a new pair. I don’t have the depth of experience with IEMs that you do, but I’m quite happy with these.
I thought I had the right tips for the best sound. Was using the triple-flange and it’s a perfectly tight seal. But I tried some different tips and moved it around as the company owner will tell you to do, and then suddenly whoa! The sound got super deep and big, way beyond what I was expecting. It’s worth some experimentation if you try it out.
The owner is a super cool guy, very supportive. Offers a 14-day return even.
Thanks Ed! It was a fun bassline to play, way more upbeat than it ought to be, LOL
Just tossed this together tonight. I should have spent another day on it to get it tighter but I wanted to get something recorded with the new bass to hear how it sounds. I should do more covers, I’m just not working on songs much right now. Recorded on the Reverend Wattplower. Effects wise, this just has some comp and harmonizer on top to thicken it up a little.

Another cover from last week’s hotel room
sessions, this one from Rotterdam!
While I doubled the bass track (played it twice) on the Hofner Shortie and applied a little GarageBand compression. I also had to back it off a bit in the mix so as not to swamp the jangly guitars.
I forgot to take a strap with me, so I’m reclining on the hotel room bed, struggling to keep the bass from sliding off my leg. This combined with the slightly prone position means my fret work isn’t really as smooth as I would like it, but ho-hum!
