Awesome job Paul, it really had a ‘live punk’ performance sound to it.
This is so great.
I remember the absolute joy of tracking all the parts in my parents garage (the last time I had access to live drums).
Great job on all of this - recording and mixing and performing.
Kudos.
Thanks @AndreaJayne !
Thanks @Gio ! It’s what I gotta do until I find a band.
Boyce Avenue (Oasis) - Don’t Look Back In Anger (acoustic)
Am I being lazy, posting a slightly different version of the Oasis song, Don’t Look Back In Anger? If I am, who cares!!! This version by Boyce Avenue is as cool as, but was lacking some b-b-b-bass!
Squier Affinity P-bass Combustion into GarageBand via my Ampero.
My cover of the reggae song Freedom Day by Ken Boothe…this song has many of the things I like in reggae bass; a good riff/riddim with lots of space and time, not complex but never boring
This is the first cover I have recorded using my black Aria Pro TAB-66 bass, but because of my choice of pedal* it may not be the best example of its tone, so I may record something else with it later
*I started experimenting with the funk machine pedal as I was learning this song, so (for better or worse) my bass tone has the sound of the funk machine on it
Ken Boothe - Freedom Day
Great job dude, it sounded really good. A new song for me, and I enjoyed it a lot
Great job Duncan! Well done!
I gotta go more reggae… That was beautifully done g13dip!
Sounds awesome, Nebel! Very cool video and every component of the song sounds great!
Well played! I have never heard that song and enjoyed the bass line.
Nice job, BassyBunch! Well played and the video effects were cool.
The 4 Pauls rock!
Great job, dude! Your “ensembles” are always impressive and this was a fun song!
I never heard this version…that is cool. You actually did “step outside” to add the bass…well done!
Sounded great…that bass (and the strap) are sharp looking. Cool song and you had nice timing. Looking forward to also hearing that bass without the funk pedal. Well done!
Emmylou Harris - Beneath Still Waters
From the 1979 album Blue Kentucky Girl. Emmylou’s fourth number one hit on the country charts. Written by Dallas Frazier in 1967 and first recorded by George Jones in that same year.
Well played John, you’ve made my Thursday feel like Sunday morning ![]()
That was beautifully done, John! Very nice.
Thanks, Andrea! I’m going to have to post a rocker on Sunday just to shake things up!
Thanks, Jerry! The George Jones version with that steel guitar is also really nice.
I’m an old guy (and getting older) so I tend to play old songs. This one is seventy years old but the real reason I chose this is I wanted to try out my EBS Valve Drive DI. I’m interested in your opinions on the bass tone of this cover.
Tennessee Ernie Ford - Sixteen Tons
Thanks for watching!
Signal Chain:
Fender Aerodyne w. fret wrap
EBS Valve Drive DI connected to effects return jack of
Fender Rumble 100, mic’d into
Scarlette 2i2 DAI
Reaper DAW w/ CLA-76 compressor and Magic7 reverb.
Well played! The tone was nice and warm. Since I don’t know what that signal chain would sound like minus the valve drive, it’s difficult to comment specifically on it. Since you mention the Rumble, are you micing it or taking the Rumble’s DI out into your DAI? If you’re not micing it, why are you using it and not going straight from the valve drive into the 2i2 instrument input? Which flatwound strings do you have installed on your Aerodyne?
Love it! Tone sounds close to an upright bass which is perfect for this song. Tennessee Ernie had such a deep and rich voice.
Very good Jerry, really nice tone. I had to look up what your EBS valve drive was, so sorry I’m not the person to comment on how that will have altered the sound! All I can say is, I enjoyed the song, and it all sounded great! ![]()
Thanks TheMaartian!
I recorded two tracks, one direct in from the Rumble and the other mic’d to the Rumble. The finished master was the mic’d track. To me, it sounded better than direct into the DAI.
I’m using LaBella Deep Talkin’ Flats
Thanks John! I always liked this song.
Thank you so much Andrea!
