Post your covers! (2025)

To be honest, after that little effects orgy, you don’t hear anything from the original tone of that bass.
I just wanted to make a statement. The next cover will have compression and maybe EQ, that’s it….

Nicely done (even if i understood exactly 0 words in the lyrics)

If i hadn’t been watching the video, i never would have guessed that was a bass playing the line. I would have been sure it was a synth. That’s meant as a compliment, since it’s what you were going for.

Yeah, thanks! I felt guilty though, having to destroy the beautiful tone of my bass just to prove a point to those d@mn 20-something punks

@faydout - that’s exactly me. But those d@mn punks stick around. Maybe it’s cause I feed them (cheap) cookies.

They are like Gen Z ducks
(But I really like them!)

If thats what you wanna go with, thats cool with me. I do it because I’m old and those damned kids need to get the hell off my lawn.

Hahaha! No, all is good: they bring some chaos into my life. Love it!

Oh no, I love it. As the Dad to two twenty somethings, I just like having some fun with it. I firmly believe that the kids are alright.

Very cool, Ant! Especially that part around the 1-minute mark. :sign_of_the_horns:

Great job, Beau! Your band does the Pretenders very well!

I’m digging the Get The Led Out month, Ed! Well played…enjoyed listening to that one!

Sounds great, Julian! Your fretless has a sweet tone and looks very cool. Nice job!

Dark tone on that one, faydout…sounds great! Well played!

Well played, Duncan! Yes, that song absolutely needs no introduction. Enjoyed that one!

Well done, dude. Completely agree that bass playing is therapy. I was thinking the other day that I need to take care of my hands and wrists because if things should go south with those and I can’t play bass, it won’t be easy on that day. As that old Motown song goes, “things are gonna get easier…”

Ed Zep rocks on! Now that was fun to listen to. I especially like what you did starting around 2:23.

Silky smooth playing, Saroo! As I wrote on your YT page, I like how those high melodies contrast with the low notes. Really well done.

That was cool, Julian! Very fun bass line. Well played! Your YT page is gonna get a whole new demographic  .

That was a cool exercise/experiment…you definitely added additional attitude to that song with that bass line and tone. I think the only words I understood were “rogue bitches” at 1:49  .

Thank you, I think thats what compelled me to do it.

My Dutchie friend, this was excellent. Nicely done!

Thanks John! I dig it!

Ha! Thanks so much, it’s fun learning a different style every now and then! This was a lot of fun to learn and a lot of fun to play.

As a palate cleanser though, frets are cool too:

Aw nice, I like that

@TheMadBassist I agree it could be nice for you to still drop a track here occasionally if you feel like it, but I’ll try to keep up on YouTube.

@Whying_Dutchman I like the rougher edge you added to that tune

Oh man, I love that you misheard “broke bitches” for “rogue bitches”!!!
If she ever starts a band, I will ask her to name it “rogue bitches”

In fact she defines herself with a word that is very similar to the last name of Immanuel Kant (…).
In Germany there is a whole movement of self-empowerment taking back that word, that was a very unspeakable profanity when I grew up. I still cannot say it.

Article about that for our German-loving BassBuzzers:

(In case you live in a country that supresses leftist ideas, don’t open this link. It’s a socialist publication. You might be deported :-))

Her next song will mention a lot of words that I had to Google and mostly are about female body parts. If I cover that I will have to mute the vocal track, otherwise my conservative upbringing will be for nothing

Thanks! That was an interesting article! Google translator has gotten so much better nowadays, and makes a good job at translating German, even new words such as fotzig (which is not a swear word, so I suppose I can write it in here?). I studied the language so long ago and managed to forget so much. But the article is anyway full of terms I had never heard before in German.

Humans are weird. It is just weird how body parts become insults and swear words. But it tells a lot about human nature.

I will send this article to my boss, she will like it.

Excellent article. Thanks for sharing. SXTN’s lyrics for “Hass Frau” (statt “Hausfrau”:smiling_face_with_sunglasses: ) would never fly in the U.S. We need a new Monty Python video: No One Expects the American Inquisition! Sad, but true.

That’s the only thing in which Google translator fails. One has to know a little German to notice the connection.

True, unfortunately.

Here’s a funny anecdote that occurred when I was working in a wine cellar in Scottsdale, Arizona. A German couple who were regular customers were looking through the German and Austrian wines, and started laughing. They called me over and pointed to a price tag for a white wine. I hadn’t noticed that the office had misspelled a word. Instead of Mosel (for the Mosel River), they left the ‘l’ off, so “Mose” (Möse). Same as “fotze”. I had to change that FAST!

That’s hysterically funny! :joy: Fortunately they had a good sense of humour and were amused. I think it was a pity you had to change it. It would have been fun to leave it like that :joy:
