I’ve got one song I’m working on where the bass starts at the 40 second mark, another where I don’t come in until the 57 second mark, and one that has multiple extended bass-less chunks. I’ve been wondering how to fill that time in the video cause nobody wants to see me just standing there for all that time.
Thanks @John_E I appreciate it!
I’ve got a Drop Nineteens song that I’m working on where the bass doesn’t come in until around the 2:30 mark. Also been working on Muse’s Exogenesis (all 3 parts) again lately that have really extended breaks betwen the 3 parts. Unfortunately none of those songs are good for dancing while I’m not playing. If you can do that, I’d say do that.
You could take a cue from Josh’s recent Gorillaz video and pretend to scroll through your phone or read a book.
@Milt Nicely played!
Pepper is a great band that nobody seems to know about.
Thanks! They were wre big in the 80s although as Homer Simpson once said - I’m sure you haven’t heard the last of them ![]()
Thanks ![]()
Thanks! Well, when you’re playing through a big amplifier on new strings then it’s pretty sweet; however, if you’re trying to record and the pickup switch is doing something weird, and the tone knobs don’t seem to do anything, and the bridge mute has fallen into the bridge…. well, you find yourself thinking about more modern basses…
Man you are pretty well connected!
But then again maybe we are all no more than three degrees from Dexy’s ![]()
@sunDOG Great cover of the cover! ![]()
@thinktriplets Well played! And welcome!
@Ed well played! I didn’t know Dexy’s Midnight Runners. Nice song!
@JohnF Beautiful cover! I love the scenery, and it makes me wonder if you ever have Autumn there, or is it constantly summer? Looks wonderful. Huge contrast to the weather here: the trees have lost their leaves, the sky is cloudy and grey. At this time I’m missing the summer and waiting for the winter. ![]()
Thanks @andrea-slnd !
Thanks @JohnF !
Thank you @JohnF @sunDOG @andrea-slndr
And welcome @thinktriplets
Thanks @BassFusion !
WigWam - Do You Want To Taste It
Where did you unearthed this from? WigWam was a Finnish band formed in 1968.
so we went full-send with the ridiculousness

Very nice cover!
Pepper - Stormtrooper
Well played and nice tone! Do you have flat wounds on this bass?
Hi,
The bassline starts at 1:01. I don’t know why, but the notes played on the low E string seem to be too deep and almost resonate with my studio monitor from 2:42. I know there’s no such thing as too much bass, but that’s the way it is. There is no problem with the other strings. What could be the problem?
+44 - No, It Isn’t
Beautiful cover! I love the scenery, and it makes me wonder if you ever have Autumn there, or is it constantly summer?
Thank you, Andrea! In South Florida, we don’t have a Fall or Winter. It is basically wet season (May to November) when it is hot and humid (80’s and 90’s) with a lot of afternoon showers and then a dry season (December - April) with less rain when it is the nicest time of the year down here (average temp in the 70’s). I do love getting away to the mountains to see the change of the seasons!
Thanks!
So I had to dig a bit - but this is apparently a different band from slightly further north (Norway lol) that was formed in 2001.
The song is the intro/theme for the show Peacemaker on HBO Max, I recently started checking out. Very funny, pretty crude (like Deadpool + more emotional baggage) with John Cena as the main character.
First thing I noticed on hearing it was “what a killer bassline!” so I picked it up right up after I finished my last project (Pneuma by Tool) as a bit of a reset from the complexity.
Thank you Travis ![]()
I hope the moving went well. I imagine this weekend will be very busy unpacking and all
We set out on Saturday 8th, I don’t know why I said Friday ![]()
I am currently sat in a hotel in Folkestone, UK, and tomorrow we are catching the Eurotunnel to France. Then we head down through France to Italy, and down the back of the boot to Brindisi where we catch the 11pm ferry to Vlorë, Albania, and arrive Saturday 15th morning. So as moving house goes, its taking a week to get there, but will be worth it. I enjoy the drive too!
We are trading this beautiful view
For this
