I love this song! Good job
Lot of big changes the past few months and I haven’t really got to test out my new pedal until late this week. Still learning how to use it effectively but as a test run I think it sounds really good so far
Slipknot - Before I Forget
Oh man that sounds so amazingly crunchy and dark. Love it!
Which Ibanez is that?
Thank you, @JerryP!
Thanks, @howard. Unless is a particularly iconic line (say, Another one bites the dust), I think it’s cool to keep the flavour, but mix things up a bit. I’ve referenced a colleague before, who is also a bassist. This is what he habitually does. He learns the chord sequence, then just does his own thing. He’s a great bassist (and musician, he also plays guitar and piano) and sounds really good in a band context.
Just do it, @Vader! I’m actually going to re-record Lullaby, but using the original studio version as the basis - request from a friend yesterday afternoon!
It all depends on what you’re after. While I have an amp at home, a 50w Orange Bass amp, I rarely use it. The vast majority of my practice is silent - I tend to practice very early on the morning, before my family are up. The Ampero facilities this - plug the bass in, plug headphones in, and you’re away. The Ampero also acts as a recording interface - plug the iPhone in, open GarageBand and I’m recording. In the band context, I use it before the amp. I’ve never been in a situation where I can plug straight into a desk, but it’s good for that too. My main reason for buying it was that, while I started buying separate pedals, my head got turned by the simplicity of an all in one solution. So I bought the Ampero and sold the pedals. I’ve no regrets.
Thanks, @JohnF! ![]()
@sunDOG As I said on YT, it’s one of my favourite Cure tunes, nicely done. I don’t know what the original bass sounds like, and I’m not about to compare. I just enjoyed how you play it. Also having a bit more colour in suits your video effects very well, so Viva la pink! ![]()
@Johnnyb I’m not familiar with the band, but that was a great cover, I really got into it.
@BumbleJazz You have a great sound on that, and a Slipnot song I actually recognise. Probably the only one in all honesty!
Oh my goodness! I am not a Slipnot fan, but I admire your playing. That was awesome!
Thanks for the response @sunDOG. I appreciate it. I’ll be mulling this over for a while…
You’re getting a great sound out of your bass with that new pedal! Well done!
Not my favorite band or song but that sounded wicked! Awesome job on the intro, looks like a tough one to articulate. Whatever effects you’re using are so crunchy, loved the tone!
Excellent, @BassyBunch!
Really don’t know this song. Well played, @faydout!!
Never heard that song before, well played , @TheMadBassist!
One note to rule them all, @TheMadBassist!
Only You - Yazoo - this is such a good song. Kudos for also taking on the synth solo, @AndreaJayne!!
Freak me, that’s heavy! Great playing, @Johnnyb!
That’s cool, @Ant!
Great playing, @dlamson13!
Great playing, @Car_J!
More seriously heavy stuff! Cool, @Johnnyb!
Heavy! Great playing, @BumbleJazz!
That’s cool, @JohnF, nice and mellow!
Thank you Duncan!! You da man! Great job on your video as well dude!!
Thanks @TheMadBassist, @AndreaJayne, @JerryP, @sunDOG!
Thanks Johnny, it’s nice to see you back here, you’re sounding great, good luck on your gigs!
Thanks John! That build up is a blast to play.
Top job @BassyBunch - I feel the need for speed!
Excellent choice @AndreaJayne - and a synth too! It’s hard to choose between this version and the Flying Pickets but the latter video IS a pub from the 80s…
Thanks Ed. I do like the Flying Pickets version too, it brings back happy memories of the coal miners strikes ![]()
As mentioned the other day, here’s my cover of Lullaby by the Cure.
Sire Marcus Miller V5 → Focusrite 4th Gen 2i2 → Ableton Live Lite
Nice work!
So when is someone going to do a cover of “Nationwide”? One of my favorites from ZZ Top.
Might have to look into that soon! Great song ![]()
