Post your covers! (2025)

I loved that album so much, great cover. The title track is a stand out tune. With Blacky Lawless (Rock animal), and also Lucy Lawless (Xena, warrior Princess) You can see why I wanted to change my surname to Lawless. It’s never too late…

I love it! Excellent cover. I have a Pixies tune on my ‘to do list’ too! Actually probably that very monkey in the image (gone to heaven?)
I don’t think I’ve heard this before.

I’ve gone in reverse order today! That is a really catchy song, as soon I as I saw the title I knew this was going to be good. Top job

You know, I kind of had you pegged as a WASP fan @TheMadBassist :+1:

You totally should, @AndreaJayne - that would be so :metal: “The name’s Lawless, Andrea Lawless” :sunglasses:

Yeah guys, I loved WASP before they succumbed to the Great Decline of Heavy Metal at the beginning of the 90s. Personally I think they peaked at The Headless Children, although Helldorado is worth a listen…

Thanks @JerryP !

If you’re looking for something to work on octaves (and some basic chords) give Bela Lugosi’s Dead by Bauhaus a look. A majority of the bass line is octaves.

Well done cover…
Is that a Suzi shirt your wearing?

Thank you and nope, it’s a Slowdive t-shirt. Now that you’ve got me thinking about it though I don’t have a Siouxsie and the Banshees shirt, and that seems like a major oversight.

It’s been a while since I’ve contributed to this thread, but I again want to say how much I am inspired by everyone who has shared their covers. Do any of you ever make mistakes? Your covers always sound perfect. P-e-r-f-e-c-t. My goodness, I’m almost ashamed to post

My 2nd cover is Kings of Leon’s “Arizona.” This song and it’s repetitive baseline has been a real challenge, from getting the right tone (I think I’m kind of close), to my mind wandering (always make a mistake when this happens), my fingers fumbling almost like I forgot how to play, missing a beat, missing a fret, string noise when changing positions, whatever. A slide on the G string was particularly difficult. I felt like I was finally getting close . . . then oof :grimacing:

It’s taken several tries to get to this point and this has been my best recording. I’m open to any feedback to improve.

Still no video btw.

LINKIN PARK - UP FROM THE BOTTOM https://youtu.be/umrEH1tAasg?si=7yWrXlZTB4T7RNEc This song man, Eb drop Db. Absolutely destroyed my sound haha  tuning is just too low for it to sound how I wanted it to. Oh well, no sense in crying over it. It’s being posted regardless. Cool tune and had fun learning it either way. Happy Easter crew!

Totally agreed, I’d also like one. It’s been so long I forgot how see spells her name. :jbass: :sunglasses:

Well done! Especially with no drums to help hold down the rhythm. Haven’t heard that song in a loooong time…enjoyed this one! Love the part where it kicks in around the minute mark. Kim Deal is the real deal.

Boom! That rocked, Ed! Yeah, the Thunderbird was the perfect choice. That song gets you pumped up!

Yeah, dude! Tone sounded great and that does not sound like an easy song to play. Great job! You should be very happy with that one.

Well done, Travis! I hope this is some sort of trade with @AndreaJayne and she is going to post a ZZ Top song!

Emmylou Harris - Tougher Than the Rest

Originally written by Bruce Springsteen form the 1987 Tunnel of Love album with a heavy helping of synth bass. Covered in 1990 by Emmylou Harris with the bassist from the E Street Band (Garry Tallent). Easy choice to pick the Emmylou Harris version to cover as she is one of my favorite singers and that version has the bass guitar instead of synth.

Bass kicks in around the minute mark.

Special thanks to @Gio for technique advice on the double slides!
