Post Your Covers! (2026)

Wow! Awesome!

I agree with Howard.

the only push back I had on this is that the drums are a little complicated and the fills are random. But our drummer is a good sport.

Also. She can say she doesn’t like a song, she doesn’t need to drag everyone else into her opinion. And her opinion is wrong by the way. although I understand, none of my friends liked the Cure when I was younger.

You’re right about the late, @Barney, but you don’t get a  for rolling out the a pathetic UK comedian’s offensive BS.

What’s interesting is that we do all get vetos on songs - there’s stuff others want to play, that I simply can’t (ie technically too difficult), or won’t (anything by Pink Floyd - can’t stand the band!). But our vocalist is convinced that she is the only one that ‘knows’ what songs will work with an audience. We did a 2hr 15min gig 10 days ago. In order to get to the song count needed, we ended up putting in some songs, at her request, that were so dull! You’ll see them in some of my covers. They work as “fillers”, but really don’t work when you’re trying to drive energy in a room…

Sounds like time for the bassist to add vocals for a couple songs.

This is awesome. Where did you find the sheet music or bass tabs for this? I would love to learn how to play this. This is one of my favorite songs from Doug (the other one was I Need more Allowance)

This was on top of either Grey’s or Torrey peak, I did them the same day (up one, then down the saddle to the other one). They’re 2 of the 14,000 ft peaks in the Colorado Rockies.

The Beatles - All My Loving

Here’s part 2 of playing a song from every Beatles album. A nice proto walking bassline here from Sir Paul. The goal is for each song to get progressively more of a challenge to help me work on different aspects of picking. I felt much more comfortable with this one.

Lovely!

One of my former step-sons is a trauma-certified emergency room nurse. When he lived just outside of Boulder, he was a member of the Alpine Rescue Team. Once, for training, that knucklehead topped 5 14ers in one day. Not me on my best day.

The most that I’ve done is 3 in a day. There was a 4th in that cluster of peaks but the last one was on private land and I didn’t want to risk a trespassing ticket. It’s getting harder to do those hikes. I’ve turned my ankle so much scrambling through the boulders up there that it doesn’t take much to do it again now. Limping down from 14,000 ft to my car just isn’t fun.

Thank you! Believe it or not there’s a tab on Songsterr for it. I mostly followed that tab, though I didn’t go note-for-note. (I think even the original bassist was improvising a bit.)

My biggest change was at measure 77, the Songsterr tab suggests jumping from the 6th fret up to the 12th fret in the span of an 8th note and that just wasn’t gonna happen. I transposed that down to where my hand already was, and simplified out a couple of 16th notes as well.

Thanks!!

Great job! I’m still scratching my head at your Beatles on YouTube thing. Maybe they changed things. Can anyone see/play these videos in this playlist?

It has been 2 years and 2 months since I made a cover video.

Hand issues, Pam’s passing, sax focus, banjo rabit hole, guitar lesson beta testing rabbit hole, upright bass rabbit hole, and… life. So I thought I would jump back in getting back to the basics, you know, the ABCs….

Does this mean the Beatles blockade is over? Cause I just recorded a cover of a cover for my next video. lol

Cool and worthwhile project! Nice start! You may inspire me to get back to giving the pic some practice time. I started playing a song from my SoR set with a pick at rehearsal, but was whiffing on a string now and again and when it came to playing live, I just went back to fingers and have stayed with fingers since.

Nice one, Dirk, sounds great! Fat tone on that one.

From Black Sabbath to Natalie Imbruglia…LOL! Well played!

Awesome, dude…really well played…such a killer album. Reminds me of high school.

Great job! Yeah, that progressively more challenging approach is the right idea. Keep ‘em coming!

Yeah, dude! I can see those Beatles videos…that was REALLY cool! I don’t think I’ve seen your covers before. Loved it! Great job on the Jackson 5 tune as well!
