Post Your Covers! (2026)

Finally got around to posting a cover with the new P-Bass build! OK, maybe a P-Bass with (TI Jazz) flats wasn’t the best choice for this one, but I really wanted to play this bass on a cover.

That sounds awesome Julian! Nice playing as well!

That tone sounded killer. I picked up a MusicMan once in a Guitar Center and it felt massive, but maybe I’ll look for this model next time as that tone is really nice. I like the tapered necks though so I think my next bass will be a jazz.

As I wrote on your YT page, this is one of your best covers. Really sweet tone! Your note duration is great throughout. And that bridge slap pop was awesome…I got lulled into the main groove of the song so the bridge snapped me out of it which was cool. Smooth playing with those chromatics and variations in the last chorus.

Thanks Jerry! I was really happy with how the bass turned out. It slapped really well with some DR DragonSkin+ strings. I put TI Jazz Flats on it which makes it not so great for slap, but I 'm a big fan of the overall tone and feel.

Thanks John! I always appreciate your insightful feedback. Ironically, I had always played slap Flea style - thumb down and bouncing. I’ve been working on learning the “slap through” technique instead, which I used here. So, wrong bass, “wrong” technique, but I was happy with how it turned out!

The Doors - Moonlight Drive

From their 1967 album Strange Days. Written by lead singer Jim Morrison. Robby Krieger’s slide guitar creates such an eerie, mysterious mood in this song.

The TRBX sounds great!

Thanks, @Professor! Yeah, I had a lot of fun playing this one. Recorded it at twilight outside around 8:00’ish when the temperature starts to cool a bit.

Fast Car By Tracy Chapman

This was one of my Mum’s favourite songs. Not a hard song to play but means so much to me.

My buddy Gavin AKA Lowend on Youtube requested this one…

It’s catch-up time. Another tough week at mill!!

Country-tasti! Well played, although I would have liked the bass a bit further forward in the mix!

Love the tone on this, @JohnF!!

I like this, @fennario, well played!! I also live the headstock on that bass!!

Man, this is trippy! (See what I did there :joy:) Well played, @JohnF!!

A classic! Well played, @Mktony32!

That’s some furious finger action there, @JustinAndSheba! Well played!! :love_you_gesture:

This song was used in one of my favourite films of all time, Running on Empty. It was filmed in 1988 and stared River Phoenix & Martha Plimpton.

Britney Spears - I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll

I think we all know Joan Jet’s version of I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll, but how many have come across Britney Spears’ version?

Also, how many know the original was by a band called The Arrow?

Britney’s version is surprisingly good … turn it UP!!

I’m catching up:

@CrayWolf Well played, and great tone!

@sunDOG Great cover and choice of song! This Hofner Shorty is a badass bass guitar!

@Professor I love this song. Well played!

@Professor Great cover!

@JerryP Awesome job, Jerry! Well played!

@Qohelet-David Very nice cover! Thanks for sharing your story. Long distance relationships seldom work, so maybe that was for the best. But it’s good that you took a chance however. We are often our own worst critics and we find faults in ourselves that others don’t actually see. You will eventually find your special someone.

@THRILLHO Very well played! You are getting very good with the pick! (which makes me think, I should practice more). Nice choice of song, it looks fun to play.

@THRILLHO Great cover! Keep them coming!
