Another laid back bluesy piece @Tokyo_Rat,
This is your signature sound, I could listen to this kinda music all day, great for highway cruzin
Love the inclusion of the video.
Cheers Brian
Thanks Brian, someone came in to work and asked for a piece of equipment, as they left they said, “thanks, love ya man”. My reply, “yep but you ain’t lovin me for me”. The song pretty much wrote itself. I know there is something else out there I could do but I swear as soon as my hand touches the fretboard it is Root, IV…OMG I’ve knelt at the alter of Keith Richards…hail the master of the I-IV. I really should get out more…LOL
Yeah they come by the shop…just work mates…LOL
Closest I got to Keith Richards was IV.
Ohhh, bad joke.
Anyway
That is a super sweet, laidback tune that I could keep playing in the background all day long.
Like being in a smokey bar shooting pool.
Ha! Perfect answer but seriously, nice video work there and modeling by them.
Thank you…I’d love to promise something different next time but old habits die hard
Thanks Howard I found a place that lets you download clips for free then it was just matching them with the lyrics and setting the timing…had a friend said, “great now you can do Karaoke videos”…LOL…haters
LOL. That was my exact comment on the last vocal take I did. “Oh fack, that’s bad, sounds like karaoke.”
Well…I don’t sing well at all. Pretty bad really. So on very rare occasion have I sung, and even more rare that I show anyone something with me singing.
I will make an exception here…because I feel this is important to bass as an instrument. Keep in mind, I will probably do a more pro recording of this In a DAW. Think of this as a live, one man (with a Zoom B3n pedal) performance that is slightly improv.
Why is it important to bass? Well, stigma around the instrument. It is under represented. If the boy in the movie woos a girl with a love song he wrote, what does he play? Nine times out of 10 it’s a guitar, the other time it’s a piano. BUT THE BASS IS JUST AS GOOD FOR LOVE SONGS! My voice as an instrument isn’t, but the bass is. So now I’m stalling, working up the nerve…here it is. A love song entirely on bass (and a zoom b3n pedal)

Waiting for the “maybe keep the love songs on the guitar” comments!

That wasn’t bad at all for a love song, @kerushlow . . .
Singing is hard . . . and singing and playing at the same time is even harder!
Good for you.
Cheers
Joe
Indeed, it is very hard! I don’t want to take credit for something I didn’t do though. The zoom pedal has a looper. I looped that main bass part that is playing through the song. I sing while NOT playing over that. Then I play the lead over it when NOT singing. That pedal is a great tool though, it is also playing the drums.
I second what @Jazzbass19 said
Nice job @kerushlow,
Stepping out and including vocals is awesome, great job,
Cheers Brian
Thanks! Next step is to get it into a daw and PITCH CORRECT the hell out of it lol.
I absolutely require Melodyne for my vocals. No shame at all in it. Well done on getting some singing out there - it’s so much harder than bass, lol
It’s a weird one. There are people who with basically no training can just do it, and do it well. I can’t think of anyone outside of a few savants Who can just play an instrument.
Well in a way almost everyone has constant voice practice from a young age. But yeah - singing on pitch, some people can just go with it. The bastards!
I had to look that up, I didn’t even know what melodyne was…sounds awesome
Yeah there’s a bunch of things like it in the general cloud of pitch correction; I really like Melodyne, very easy to use, sounds natural and not auto-tuned.
