Post your pedal ideas

Yeah, that RV=6 was a major dissappointment.
I am happy with my FLAMMA because of how cold it sounds, gives a feel of being in an empty High School basketball gym with nobody there.

I am getting ready to move so I have not re-routed my pedalboard yet.
Plus I have this Markbass Compressore that I got to Flip, and wouldn’t you know it, I LOVE THE THING.
The thing that makes it not as hard to let go it it’s size, but it sure it a nice pedal, and it is fairly easy to dial in if you get a feel for it.
I have thought to put my Boss BC-1x and Keeley Bassist up for sale on Reverb as well, and just let fate decide which one goes.

FYI, anybody looking for a GREAT COMPRESSOR PEDAL for a MINIMAL PRICE

The SanJune GB-cp Optical compressor is BACK IN STOCK at Amazon for $66.
This is an amazing little optical compressor, if you are just getting started with compression and or pedals, and want to get something great that doesn’t cost much, this is a great option
Or
if you just want a change in compressor, or an additional one, or a back up, Great product, minimal cost.

I already ordered one with my Amazon library card. I’ll either keep it, or the one that I just got.

Hahahaha.
I just checked the link to see if for some reason they only got one in stock and you took the last one.
Good news, you did not take the last one.

This happened with my Aguilar Pick up. They got one in, I ordered it, went back to get another, and they were, and still are, out of stock. LOL
I may actually give another pick up a shot and see if something is better

Hmm. Musikdings has a kit that clones Catalinbread’s Dirty Little Secret, which sounds pretty sweet on bass to me:

It’s got the equivalent of a crossover internally on a DIP switch.

Kit is here:

That sounds pretty killer.
How do those kits work? What do you actually buy, does it come with everything, or do you have to order everything on the BOM?
They ship to the States?

Depends on the kit. Some are just the schematic, bom, and pcb. Others come with all the parts. Some places are better than others for ordering this kind of stuff but there’s tons of them out there.

The ones @terb and I got off of Musikdings were full kits including enclosures. That’s pretty far towards the extreme for the best option while still having it be a kit. These things range all the way from nothing but “dude here’s my cool EAGLE file” up through full kits. (actually I guess it’s worse than that even, as I am sure there are simple breadboard and veroboard guides out there too.)

Basically you order whatever is in the kit, order any parts you want not included, solder the parts to the PCB, assemble it, and then when it doesn’t work, take your multimeter and figure out why, and fix it until it does

Lots of places in the US offer stuff like this, you don’t need to use Musikdings. They do ship to the US though.

I’ve been avoiding going to the electronics district here (and the store web sites) to look for this kind of thing, mostly because I am terrified of what would happen when I found it.

stupid question but isn’t this breaking copyright laws, just copying someone’s design/layout?

(haha bummer, it didn’t animate - it’s the “Yes! No. I don’t know!” meme.)

The laws are grey.
Kind of like selling 90% complete AR15 conversion kits.
You can sell them partially finished, with the blue print to finish it, in a kit with the tools (drill) to finish it, and drilling fixture with instructions on how to finish it properly, and it is totally legal.
But if you finished it by drilling it, it is not only illegal to sell, it is illegal to own in some places.

Unless the company had the schematic of the board patented, it is likely very legal to sell a kit to make it.
Some pedals in the past have gone thru law suits, and copies are very legal until the original creator has proven it is their design to own and patents it, at which point they can prevent others from making them, or demand royalties if they grant manufacturing rights.

This is a very broad, non legal answer, but kind of hits the talking points

I am guessing Behringer would be kind of screwed if it were illegal.

They are not the only ones either, they are just pretty much transparent about it. Think of how many TS and Dyna Comp clones there are out there, I mean almost every major company

Another factor is these are all from-scratch reimplementations, not derivative works. The people are making their own circuits and PCBs based on reverse engineering the real pedals. Not all of the components are the same, etc.

(edit, terms were backwards)

The Mooer Radar is not an option for me, i use Mac

I looked at it and I swore it didn’t do amp sims. BTW the radar works with ios

This one, if you look at the link for it sold from Sam Ash thru Amazon, it leaves out the full description and does not mention anything about Amp and Mic sins, but if you find the link thru Hotone, it tells the full power of this box.

I keep hearing of people that have Mac, having problems with the Mooer Radar. Saying they can’t run any updates or load IR files

Hmm if that is true, then yeah I would stay away from it.

I am more a vintage warm drive guy then a screaming rat pedal guy. But lately I’ve occasionally wanted something a bit more… Aggro. So I decided I was going to decide between a b3k or this. This was almost half the price, so I’ll start here and ordered one.

yeah, unless anybody here has gotten one and used a Mac to update and load files?

Course, I can just send it back to Amazon if it doesn’t work, but I hate to do that, plus it doesn’t say anywhere in the product description that you can use MAC, it says PC over and over, but not MAC, so I can’t even say wrong information on the product as a reason to return it.
