Ooh. Yamaha makes a 321cc version of the R1. Looks super fun.
I still want an R1 or R6 but this one is actually more practical.
I’m banned from bikes though so not happening. Wife put a a very practical end to my danger sport hobbies long ago

these days i’m less fascinated by sports bikes and more drawn to what used to be called UJM (universal japanese motorcycle) type bikes, something that can do it all and is just fun. i really wanted a ducati scrambler when they first came out, always have loved the BMW GS’s too. also i like that you always see BMW guys out in 40 below zero weather riding their bikes, covered in snowmobile outfits. hardcore

I always just calld these “standards” and yeah, there’s some fantastic ones. I mean who wouldn’t love a Honda CB? And then there’s the standard/cruiser hybrids like the Eliminator.
And, of course, the VMax

pretty much the polar opposite. i would pay you just for entertainment’s sake to try to take that on a multistate road trip

I can’t even imagine trying to wrangle the VMax. It basically has one job and is really good at it, and terrible at everything else

I always loved the Hayabusa. It got a bad rap as it wasn’t pure sport but was actively practical. Same for my last bike (GPz 1100).

I borrowed one and was blown away with how it easily felt I was going a lot slower than I really was !
I managed the magical 200 on it ( on a private road of course 
)

New bike! A bare bones/budget 1-speed from a small company in Montreal. Flat pack shipping, so I also built it myself.
The seat needs to go (feels like a toothpick wrapped in a styrofoam cup), and I think I’ll upgrade the brakes eventually.
