How much do you notice that the pickup cover changes the tone?

I know it changes the tone because I used to remove covers from several guitar pickups in the past. removing the cover brings more “air”, and a more agressive high-end. but in this case I can’t remove the covers because they have a structural role, it’s a part of the pickup really and not just a removable part. if I remove it, the coil falls.

When I looked at PitBull Guitars, they did not offer a DIY bass kit in a Flying V. I went with one from Bargain Musician. I’ll be uploading pictures soon!

I noticed they did not have that V either.
But I kind of fell in love with the Zebra Jazz kit.
They picture the P in Zebra, but it is still shown under the Jazz kit.
A P kit in Zebra would be sick.

Pretty close. Not sure you have enough material around the perimeter of the old one to clean up the new one to the same diminsensions, but maybe you do, looks close.
be nice if you could isolate just those two pieces, and bolt thru them and match the holes really well, then use the old one a a guide for grinding the new one down, and get it really close, then finish it on a soft wheel to smooth it down. that would get you almost dead on., course it requires you to tear them both apart, but that is ok, right? they go back together un harmed, don’t they?

it should be fine, I have the inlays and I “just” have to glue them with a perfect radius relative to the neck

Yeah that part seems hard
I imagine there’s an expensive tool for this? Or do luthiers just freehand it?
