Looks much better without the neon green!

I’m still debating what strings to get for the new project bass. I have everything else but the strings, I’m not willing to use the blue neons I have on my bass utility shelf.

I like the black but I started experimenting…

And then I used water to wipe it off to get:

Gives it a more rustic/distressed look. I’m going to keep experimenting before I decide to just black it out again🤔

I may go over it with purple and black Unicorn SPiT (the first black is Minwax Trueblack)

I have some spray shellac to finish it with when done

Looks great. I love black matching headstocks.

The black and the last picture both look really good @Koldunya .
I’d be hard pushed to choose between the two

I’m looking forward to starting the work on it. The pots and pickups should be here by Friday, and I have a new band saw and belt sander just for this new guitar. I’m just hoping it comes out ok. The block of wood I got wasn’t cheap and I can’t mess up the design.

Pro tip. Get hold of some cheap or free plywood and practice your layout / band saw cuts on that. Waay cheaper than buying a new piece of nice wood for the body.

That’s a great idea and I have some plywood that’s about the same size
