Really @itsratso ?
Its not only the 4 frets stretching but the whole arm is less moving. For me personally it is quite a difference but i am sure other people other opinions
I do find it easier to play, don’t get me wrong. I just don’t find it a huge difference, I can comfortably switch between standard and short. But yeah, you’re right, it might be just me.
I like it.
I dub thee… Baby beluga
Also, I have to say I wasn’t ever blown away by the shape of that chowny, but man it’s really started to grow on me
Baby Baluga looks and sounds like it’s quality
I didn’t like the look of it before I read about it but the more I look the more I like.
As for playability of the Mikro , I still find I over stretch sometimes and miss a fret but I love playing it so much I loose track of time when I use it.( or maybe that’s just all bass playing lol )
The new edition arrived this morning
Easy to play but the quality is not as I would have expected ( paint chip on the rear and slight misfit in the pick guard). I suppose for the money I’m expecting too much.
And I really have to change the strings for flats . The round wounds really sound tinny to me.
Wait… Didn’t you buy that bass new?
If so, you are not asking too much. If or when I buy a new bass, it damn well better not have a chip or misfit pickguard.
congrats @Mac looks really nice to me especially the color
And i´ve read about exactly these issues with the painting and the pickguard but the price rules it i think. Really looking forward for your detailed review of it
Similar experience with my Squier Affinity, pickguard seems to be randomly screwed to the body that has minor faults.
Considering the price I paid, it seems logical
It was new @eric.kiser which was why I was initially a bit p*ssed about . Well that and the fact I watched a few video reviews of the bass one of which mentioned the exact same issues but in my arrogance I convinced myself that it couldn’t possibly happen to me! That probably fuelled my disappointment to begin with.
I totally get what you mean regarding quality/ price @Krescht and @bernds64 but I didn’t really expect paint to be missing near the ferrule where the strings come through the body.
BUT and it’s a big but , after spending a few hours noodling and playing the old favourites I am very impressed. I don’t like the strings but that’s a real personal preference however I actually got some great tone from the Mustang. I might put a thumb rest on her as the pickup is really little but the neck plays good, the tone and volume both do what they say on the tin and I’m sure I’ve got a good a great buy for my dollars.
I’ll record a practice piece tonight and get it in here ASAP
yeah, i’m sorry but fit and finish have nothing at all to do with the price point, that’s just bad QC. having lower end hardware, fine. but the rest is just sloppy work.
After playing the bass and really getting into it I’ve had another look at the paint chip and it gets worse! The string ferrule is actually not seated properly in the body !
I’m going to contact the shop and Squier. If they want to run with the big boys they really have to up their game.
@itsratso if you find a smaller one, will it be Seed Beluga
Jamie
@Mac sweet looking bass, love that colour. I’ve four new bass and they have all had faults, ESP, Ibanez and two Harley Bentons.
Jamie
Thank you @Jamietashi
Interesting to know about the faulty basses !
I actually emailed Fender regarding the quality control issue and they replied within an hour with apologies and options to resolve it.
I think I forgot to put those here, so cool
