I will go with this one.
They also have a straight Telecaster Bass, and a Les Paul, but this Telenbacker is where its at.
I get what you mean now. I went straight from the first Post from Mike right to the bottom of the thread with my post. I missed all the talk about it.
Met a bass player here in Mexico City while trading my Squire J-Bass for the Squire Mini Bass.
I learn and practice on the G&L but now I have a really fun toy that I’m enjoying a lot. It’s so easy to play, light…
If you have the chance to try one out, do it. Just for the fun of it.
excellent choice
BTW depending on what you want, a lot of SS 's can be more than toys, mine is pretty much my main bass.
Oh! I think it is a great instrument. It makes a lot of sense to me, particularly learning to play by myself in a small room. But the bass player who gave it to me used it in several gigs and said it was great. If I was to buy my one and only bass I would get a SS. My three favorites are Sire U5, Banshee Bass and Nordstrand.
Yeah, that does sound great. I’m in love with hollow body shorties. I’m totally loving my Ibanez hollow body.
Still enjoying my first bass; an Ibanez TMB30 Short scale. Decided to throw on some flats today and I like it very much. Pretty impressed with a $180 bass.
I mean I have my eye on a Sandberg but realistically I could play this thing for years and be happy.
Those Talmans look really cool. I see them recommended all the time.
There are some infamous guitar and bass players who have successfully played their entire careers on the only instrument they could afford when they were starting out. It’s all a matter of making whatever you’re playing sound better.
There’s a fantastic YouTube channel called Five Watt World. It’s a fascinating series of histories of various amps and guitars including the Jazz and Precision bass.
The host Keith Williams piqued my interest in an early video when he asked the question ‘How much gear do you really need?’
My screen saver is a screen grab from a Paul David’s video - Practice Trumps Gear. It’s become my mantra. Every time I find myself on Reverb I think ‘I could be playing the instrument I already have right now’
Totally agreed. I’m pretty certain this would be my next.
Man. The Gretsch dealer in Japan seems to be a usurious mofo. $1600 for a 5442BDC new. I could save $500 ordering new from the US.
Of course, I don’t want to buy an new one, I just want to try one out and maybe consider a used one if I really like it, but the jacked price means no one else has any because no one buys them here and none have ever sold used that I have found.
That sucks
Here’s my shorty: a Serek Midwestern 2 in British Racing Green (30.5" scale). A very decent sounding bass she is too, although I say so myself.
lovely
That is nice. Love the grain of that fretboard.
I watched Lobster do an interview with Serek, really cool guy. Sure makes some cool Basses.
