Short Love

yeah I have never used those silly (imo, I know some people love them) rubber strings. I remember when those dogals came out, aren’t they pretty pricey? they look great though. I just use the kala nickel ones and I like them.

I got to stop doing this. So here I was at my desk, taking a class online, and my boss stops by and gives me my annual raise figure. So I was in a good mood, and noticed that Chicago Music Exchange had the Bronco in Shell Pink (which I am a sucker for) on pre-order. So I pre-ordered it, thinking I had time.

Later, I got the shipping notice. What the.

Anyway, the build so far:

Fralin Split 51 5% overwound

Gotoh vintage bridge

LaBella

That’s all I got. Tuners have eluded me. I have some pots lying around here I will use. Some of these I already had.

This is my favorite Fender look. Pastel color, white pickguard, maple fingerboard. A creamsickle.

Nice! I got the same pick up for mine. Worked on installing it yesterday. Pick up is just a little too big for the pickguard. I tried to Dremel mine out a little, mistakes were made. Ordered another pickguard from these people. They said it would fit a sonic bronco. Also got them to adjust the pickup size. We will see. Still kinda mad at myself for screwing up the original.

I don’t mind the tuners on it. For me, they are fine. I am redoing the neck. I feel like that may be the biggest stock drawback of these broncos. I’m rounding the fretboard edges and refinishing.

They’ve got that color in the Squier bass vi’s too. if I give up on finding a decent sub $1000 VI, I’ll probably break down and get this one in the pink.

@John_E has it. Gorgeous.

I was actually wondering how an S4 would sound as a pickup. Seems like it would be good.

That could be. In general, the ceramic magnets produce warmer tone than alnico.

I ordered a pickguard from this seller. They charged $15 to change the pup to fit a 51p, and I can’t return it, but no worries. I’ll be glad to have a 3 ply instead of the one ply it comes with. It’s like a new bass

I figured me and a dremel don’t get along so well so why not

@Wombat-metal Just got mine today…still needed a little dremel work, but I didn’t totally screw it up like I did the last one. So I got that to fit…unfortunately my obsidian wire kit I ordered doesn’t fit, pots are too far apart to work, been looking at some other pre wired kits but may take this opportunity to learn to solder…
