The clear pick guard looks good! I like seeing the woodgrain as well.
Me, three. I love the fanned grain on my Deluxe Fallout (on the workbench in Fullerton ready for shipping to me). I love the burst on this one. The really dark part is limited to the edges and smoothly lightens toward the middle.
It looks beautiful! Very nice! I hope you don’t have to wait too long for it.
By the way, cool profile picture, @TheMaartian !
You probably need to imagine how it looks when played, i.e., in the horizontal position…
Like so:
Now, it’s a sunset/sunrise, crema on an espresso, the head on a Guiness, … ![]()
Yep. They look cool, but not my thing for sure ![]()
Yep, its a unique finish, and it’s designed to be viewed horizontally, in playing position.
I’ve seen tons of bursts, but this isn’t actually a burst. It is airbrushed, for sure, as is every burst, but this is a two-tone linear gradient finish.
Several electric guitar and bass makers do an airbrushed finish, but they do so to accentuate the lower and upper bouts.
I dig this one for its originality.
I really do dig the “moonlight blue” version.
It also helps that the Revstar is my favorite guitar, I am on my fourth now ![]()
I somehow like it, it gives vintage vibes, also this 70s (I think) shape.
These are new, modern guitars but yes they are meant to be spiritual successors to Yamaha’s SG from the '70s.
They are also supposed to evoke '70s motorcycle cafe racing and most models (like mine) have racing stripes ![]()
This is the model and color I own:
Yeah, I seem to like them in all colors ![]()
I really dig this finish, and I’m not generally a burst enjoyer.
Fortunately I already have a hardtail HH guitar I can barely play so I don’t need another!
As mentioned, this isn’t actually a burst. It’s a two-tone, airbrushed linear gradient finish.
Bursts are circular gradient airbrushed finishes.
I get that some might not like airbrushed finishes, but I like them if they are tastefully done.
Oh no, I get it, hence the name “sunset burst”, their words not mine @MikeC
I definitely dig the concept, and it’s a nice execution. But seriously the asymmetry is incompatible with my particular flavor of neurodivergence and my brain does not like it one bit. It rebels against it with the power of 1000 errr…. airbrushed suns.
It’s like, that thing is WRONG… while simultaneously being quite pretty. ![]()
Many things “wrong” are quite pretty.
Also, the maker is entitled to call the finish whatever. It just ain’t correct. ![]()
…Lesson mode on…
In science, there is a term called “coffee stain effect”, describing how a droplet (with stuff in it) deposited on a surface never gives a uniform distribution of the stuff inside once the droplet dries. It always gives a ring-shaped deposit (which is annoying if you want to hit the spot with a laser to get said stuff into a mass spectrometer; but mostly you hit the empty inner part of the circle).
It’s called coffee stain effect, because if you ever let a drop of spilled coffee dry out on the tabletop, you’ll get that dark ring, not an evenly dark spot.
…Lesson mode off…
Apparently, somebody thought this would make for a good burst ![]()
What’s the mass spectrometry version of everything is in 4/4 if you don’t count like a nerd?
Everything consists of _ unless you analyze it like a nerd…
due to the capillary effect iirc
Well… it’s because a droplet is shaped like a lentil (in the z direction), or like a modern C neck profile, and the rate of evaporation is larger towards the corners (the “thinner” bits) and as a consequence stuff gets moved towards those corner, where it eventually stays when the last bit of water is evaporated.

And again it’s the vintage look that gets me. What is wrong with me?
