Show Us Your Basses (Part 2)

It sounds like a P. Old fashioned P. Action is low, plays well. Good bass

Let’s be honest. It made that car slightly better.

It’s hard to improve on the perfection that is a 4th generation Honda Civic. Those old shitboxes would just run and run.

The primer only improves it.

I started 2015 with a Squier Matt Freeman Signature Preciossion Bass due to internet recommendations. I never regret this, because it was a very good and solid instrument which I sold for 150€ more than I paid for it new.

After selling the Squier because it did not really got catched by it in all the years I bought a Fender Player Jazz Bass. I really love the tone and the looks, but the quality of this instrument… I don’t know if this is something with Fender MiM but I became upset any time I looked at the shitty Fretboard.

After selling the fender I bought a Yamaha BB 434 which I play to these days. I really like it in any possible way and the quality for this price is outstanding.

But now I think again about a Fender Player Jazz…

If you want an outstanding quality Jazz bass, look for a Sire.

A Sire V5 is passive. A Sire V7 is active and is a bargain. A Sire V8 Signature is the top of the Sire Jazz line, with great hardware, woods, electronics and workmanship.

The 434 is a great buy. If you don’t want the preamp in the 734A, the 434 has a lot more color options.

Yes, I will definitely look at the V5 and a Squier CV when I decided to buy another Bass. Thank you for your recommendation.

Just received a Squier Bronco in the Tahitian Coral color, that I bought new for 180€. The idea is to leave this bass at my GF’s place. It’s more for her than for me because she started to learn bass so I wanted a bass for her. She has really small hands so a short scale (30") will be a bit more comfortable.

Squier changed a few things on the current Bronco, and I can compare because I’ve had one of the first version. Also I still have a “NOS” 1st version Bronco neck that I bought a few years ago for a bass project, so I can compare in person the two necks and there are a few interesting differences.

Here is a picture to show the size compared to a regular (25.5") Fender guitar, and a regular (34") Fender bass.

Yeah, I’m very happy they added this new Tahitian Coral color. before that, the Bronco Bass existed only in black or Torino Red. There has been 3 FSR as far as I know, one Shell Pink, one California Blue with black pickguard and another one in Ultraviolet with black guard. The Tahitian Coral is our favorite, to both me and my GF, so it was a no brainer.
