I switched to short-scale last year with my custom Birdsong and I love it. Coming from years on guitar, SS definitely feels more comfortable to me.
I wasn’t LOOKING for a new bass (yes, I know), but I only have 2. And 3 is a magic number.
I’m blaming @Whying_Dutchman for getting me thinking I needed a semi-hollow and @Jclay for recommending this bass. I had a couple weeks of second-guessing, while I waited for it to float across the pond and get through FedEx hell, but here it is at last.
That is a very beautiful bass!!! Looking forward to a cover!
Yesterday evening I was thinking about semi-hollow short scale (in my case the Reverend Dub King) again, and made a final decision against it though.
Not, cause I don’t want it … more cause I find that two is the magic number for me
Except when you’re a Samurai, then you’ll have two: a Katana and a Wakizashi…
(I’m counting the Tanto as a knife).
Just unboxed this little gem. Slapped on my ramp (because the action is a bit high and gave it a go. Surprisingly good. The strings have some weird overtones but for the most part it’s pretty awesome. Same scale as my custom 5 string. I might splurge for a Dogal set. But that would be about half of what I paid for this bass
i got the same one a while ago. it’s a little monster. but were you totally shocked like me at how heavy it is? (i mean for it’s size. but still, it’s heavy).
This is a wonderful, pretty, and mint-y bass. It’s so pretty and mint-y that I started worrying about messing it up were I to take it to lessons or jams on the regular. So, I bought a standard Fender Player Jazz that, while equally pretty and mint-y, I’m not so worried about messing it up as it’s not a NOS 2016 signature instrument:
For what it’s worth? I am really impressed with the Player Jazz. I actually prefer playing it to the Geddy Lee. I’d never thought I’d say this, but I actually prefer the slightly thicker neck on the Player, and the pao ferro fretboard is awesome. I think I mentioned in the other thread where I first brought these up that if I’d have come across this Fender Player Jazz back when I started BassBuzz, there’s a strong chance I would have saved a shitload of money not buying all the basses I’ve bought.
I just have one Sword and one bearded axe. They are from Grimfrost. Johan Hegg from Amon Amarth is a part owner, I didn’t know that when I first started purchasing from them. They were also a supplier for the series “Vikings” I threw in a few other Melee weapons!
I have a few from martial arts a few form re-enacting.
Even one r two from Peter Lyons who made the LOTR swords from when he was starting out and not famous.
Ah, spears! How practical. I occasionally wonder how effective a boar spear is for home defense compared to the guns the are heavily marketed that direction. I think the advantage of meeting to worry a lot less about them being stolen to use in drive by shootings etc is obvious.
We can’t really have firearms here for self-defence (or anything really) but of all my toys I would be happiest if need arose, to conveniently have at hand…my antique talwar.
A nasty curved Indian sword made for close to the body cutting. I once cut a hanging punching bag pretty much in half without trying too hard.
A fearsome weapon.
Third time’s the charm! Ordered a ‘23 AMPROII p bass from a big box store and it had a TON of issues. Went to checkout another one and it still had some QC Issues.
Finally picked this one up today and so far I’m in love
I have a few firearms that would be my primary with my sword and axe as secondary. I always say, you just can’t beat a splitting maul as long as you can swing it!
my preference would be a firearm, but we have to keeps ours locked away and if we used them on an intruder (in most States) would be deeply in the poo.
Probably lime and a long handled shovel would help tho.
