I haven’t heard of any house invasion (of course we do have burglaries) and even assaults on the streets (except for casual drunk street/bar fights). Sometimes I read about stuff like that in newspapers, but overall we are pretty safe here - even in the “worst” parts of Hamburg (or any city I know here) or parks after dark…
For self defense we just wander off in another direction
That said, I do possess two very nice “real” Katanas (the swords, not the gear) and some serious tactical knives (which are now forbidden), but those are leftovers from my close combat & martial arts times (also, I love steel) … never intended on actual use…
