Show Us Your Basses (Part 2)

It would not change the “seafoam green” (or as I call it: bright barf), but I am open to suggestions for the pickguard.

I ordered some pickguard “raws” to cut myself.
Matte black for Ronin and brushed aluminium for Pick’s Hot.

That will be pretty exciting, considering I don’t have the tools, two left hands and am generally not great at working with very fine stuff…

What colour would you suggest for the pickguard??? I would like to replace the metal control plate too, using the same (new) colour…

I could live with the pickguards, as this bass will always remain ugly. Seafoam green - it should be outlawed!

I’m not the one to advise on colour…

I suggest going for a design that compliments the seafoam green, rather than a flat colour. Take a look at the gig ink link - go to his instagram page - and look at some of his work, you might be inspired!

True that

Disagree, that’s a really classic color combination. In fact with this bass I would probably only go with white there as it completes it nicely.

What a cool project! Makes me wonder about a bronco fretless…

EDIT Mine does sound very good … but not like this fretless. The tone of my fretless is very full and deep, not nasal at all.
I like it, but it’s not “typical” like in the video above.

My guess: I use flatwound strings … maybe I need to go back to roundwound?

But then I really need to use some kind of hard coating on the fretboard. WIll think about it…

Sad, it’s one of my favorite color. Mine is a satin finish. Pickguard color vintage white pearl

Nice bass!

Hella lot of vinyl back there too!

If I remember correctly, the Sire U5 had the same colour and has a satin finish too.
It looked much better (in terms of colour) than my HB, which is glossy!

Maybe it’s cause of the glossy? That’s what I also don’t like about my black Ronin bass. I wish it were matte/satin!!!

I didn’t think about it until now, but glossy finish irritates me … except on Pink’s Hot, cause it’s also sparkly

EDIT @Al1885 You just gave me an idea: is there a simple & fool proof idea to change glossy to matte/satin?

It’s addictive LOL

Only half of the collection, there’s only so many I can sneak into the house

Yes absolutely. Professional paint job. Simple and full proof.

Does not compute. DIY or die

You can try very high count sand paper like 1000 grit minimum and slowly take off the clear coat. By this time next year it would be nice and satin,

I love seafoam green! And yours even has a matching headstock. Looks so good!

I will love it (more) when I have killed and buried the glossiness

What’s one of your fav. acronyms? YMMV…?

I prefer the pearloid pick guard on @Al1885’s bass, compared to a flat white one.

YMMV

But perloid pickguards make me think of Taylor Swift’s dresses. That’s a big nono for me!

The white pearl pickguard looks much better to me than plain white.

The vintage pearl pickguard over the natural Swamp Ash body of my Sire V8 looks perfect.
