Basses AND books? I like this person.
Looks great. Nice Bass!
Lovely. Isnât it crazy how different the colors look in sunlight? It really doesnât. I love walking into the music room and looking over at it.
Dude, post a current pic?
Also, what ever happened to the B4 parts? Did you wind up rebuilding that?
The sunburst went to my buddy in Florida.
I probably need a better photo spot than my hallway but I do inventory pics and serial numbers and such in case of disasters. Because SoCal.
Thatâs is nice!!! Love the string through too.
I donât think Iâve posted a picture of my Player series Jazz. When I got my Geddy, I bought this the next day because the Geddy was too nice to play (in fact, Iâm considering selling it for just that reason; it just hangs on my wall, and I donât play it). And now - of all the basses I own - this one is my âgo toâ, my âworkhorseâ. This is the bass I practice on and take to lessons and would rather be playing when Iâm on the Geddy or my Precision.
Itâs just a standard Player series Jazz with a pao ferro fretboard, but I love it.
It really is. And it plays like an effing dream.
What color pickguard are you gonna replace the white with? ![]()

Hah, funny you mention that. I found a place (I think it might have been @sunDOG that recommended it) that does custom graphic pickguards. Iâm looking at a brown and white checkerboard pattern pickguard. I think it still needs to have some white (because of the fret markers) and a checkerboard pattern would look rad, but all I could find before this place was black and white (which wouldnât look good).
Thereâs always tort⌠just sayinâ.
Have you looked at DecoBook @JustTim ?
That makes me cringe just thinking about it. ![]()
Lol the new red 734A is still low key tempting me. Not enough to buy another one but still, itâs one step from Hookyâs signature model and close to the same color.
Yamaha is really good at the semitransparent colors; the âalmost opaque but not quiteâ thing just looks awesome.
Those last two pics make it look gigantic.

It turns out the truss rod is just fine, making this maybe the biggest bargain ever. Itâs in outstanding shape, has been cared for, and considering the mileage on it the wear and tear is light. Very happy with it and I would be at triple the price.
Just cleaned and polished the fretboard, and gave it some boiled linseed oil for a nourishing snack. Once dry (prolly tomorrow) Iâll throw on some new strings and give her a setup, and she should be ready to rumble.
Cool! Are you putting DâAddarios or Elixirs on it??
Good question, I will probably throw the Elixir nickel nanoweb rounds on this one, since I need to use them on something and they might play well with the double humbuckers.
Gonna need to see some more pics of that fretboard. It was beautiful even before oiling it.
Itâs looking good, Iâll get a pic after I throw the strings on tonight.
