Show Us Your Basses (Part 2)

Also - in all seriousness, they are amazing. Think of them as the Yamaha BB of guitars. That’s actually a very apt analogy - classic SG lines, but modernized, and with features maybe two tiers above their price point.

Of course the real reason is I just cannot say no to racing stripes.

Seriously @Al1885 it’s probably the best incarnation of the SG (Yamaha OR USA Gibson) ever made.

Chambered body, binding, great rosewood fretboard, stainless frets, very good YGD pickups, and a freaking power transformer for a switchable built in analog boost. For like $800.

And, of course, dayum:

There’s a reason I have owned four.

Makes me wish I need more than 1 guitar, but really don’t even need one lol

It’s funny because it’s true

I kept feeling bad because I had a really nice guitar but just was not a guitar player at all.

Absolutely that’s the Jibson version I’d love to have, it’s a really want to have. I’ve been going back and forth between the PRS Zach Myers and the blue Revstar. Both are gorgeous. The only difference is the Revstar would probably let me summon the inner Matteo,

Same. I actually think I want a Pacifica because the guitar I have is a hardtail HH.

That I don’t play.

So every so often I do something with my Frankenstein. This time I covered the pick guard with carbon effect vinyl.

New old bass day, and IMO it’s a looker

1985 Yamaha BB-VIII. They only made them for one year.

These vintage MIJ Yamahas are just solid instruments.

The back of the neck is gloss but it’s also beautiful, going to leave it that way. It’s a big chonky P style neck, 42mm nut.

The double P’s sound great and the bridge P is surprisingly useful even soloed. Liking it so far, cool bass.

Agree and also definitely let us know if you don’t love it and want to offload it to some schlub in North America.

Wild. The seller put new strings on to sell it, and they are pretty nice. I asked him what they were and it turns out it was a spare set of Ken Smith rounds he had lying around. I think they are even stainless.

It’s like he knew me

It’s interesting to me that they seem to keep electronics to a minimum in the double Ps, at least Yamah does.
