Awesome bass, Ian! Welcome to the forum!

Did you try heat treating the Squier neck?

Nah probably not worth the effort

I bought one of these for my Squier CV 50s p-bass. Really didn’t like it - too chunky and made the bass feel really odd. The Thumb Fin is now swimming around a random draw in my office, likely never to be seen again…

I just pulled this Squire out of the closet to give it a little run, just waiting for my headphones to charge back up!

Thanks for sharing the first hand experience. I’ll delete my bookmark to it.

Picked up this grandpa burst 2010 MIM p bass in excellent condition off of local market place last week. Plays very nice but I have a few plans for it.

I have a couple of granpa bursts. My mim p bass got quarter pounders a badass bridge and new pick guard. It used to look like yours.

Let’s see if I can get this to look right. I am doing the bass lessons, but I’ve been playing trying to learn for a little while now. I have a talent for woodworking also. This bass is my first attempt at building a bass. I built the neck and the body on this one. All the others I built I used Warmoth necks on. Necks are a bit more challenging, and Warmoth makes some real good ones. The finish on this one is not that great, so it is my Frankenstein bass. I use it to experiment with. I’ve already had 3 bridges on it. It plays real nice. Seymour Duncan pickups, EMG pots and wiring kit. Hipshot bridge, Graph Tech Ratio machine head tuners. This one has no electronics in it, just passive sound. Neck is curly maple, body is mahogany, finish is lacquer. Finish not that great on it cause I could not get it to dry well enough, so I did not use lacquer on any others.

Oh yeah, I should have also added that this is a 32 inch scale bass. My first bass was a used Spector full scale. Bought it on eBay. It did not play because some wires had come loose. The longer bass wreaked havoc with my left wrist. I had injured it some years back, so the shorter bass was a better fit for me. I have since scavenged parts of the Spector.

Not usually a burst guy but that’s a really nice looking burst.

JB-1 Sunburst with epoxy fretboard. I was trying to pick up a ‘beater’ JB for a spare, but wound up with a gem instead.

Looks great. Good find as second hand in that condition. I have Pulse 2 too

Yea, jack was in the edge of the body like all Les Paul models. But I did not like it there, so I drilled another hole and replaced the jack. I kept hitting the jack when it was plugged in. Like I said, my experimenting bass!
