Show Us Your Basses (Part 2)

You want to mod that p bass one right? That’s different mod altogether. I’ll be back for that recommendation.

Wait one!

Ok I’m back. P bass mod can be simple or well it’s a p bass lol. Easiest mod would be the Geezer EMG passive or the EMG passive pickups. They are soderless so it’s a very simple mod.

Next level up would be any kind of pickup you feel like. If you want a bit more attack then go with the 1/4” pole piece Seymour Duncan otherwise known as the quarter pounder. You can choose their preamp passive or active. Same goes to other EMG and G&L MFD pickups.

My favorite p mods is with the Delano large pole pickups. They are the same size as the musicman pickup pole pieces. Large magnets quicker attack in your face tone. I have that in quite a few of my p basses I love it. @DaveT just modded his too.

Then then next level pickups mod would be the one that you are going to have to route the cavity.

I have the Delano xtender it looks really cool and sound even more cool but you have to reroute the cavity which can take some practice unless you are @Barney.

Here are a few pics.

Safe to say I’ve done a few p bass mods. Let me know if you have any questions.

Oh man Lookey here, it showed up on my porch this afternoon. I ordered it a few months ago from Sweetwater. This would be my second one minus the autograph. The first one was a gift from my ex-boss and it was delivered by the Man himself. I said to him then I’d probably buy another one to play with and save this one, he said you do that, lol.

@booker_t I just sent you the quick unboxing video lol.

Thanks @joergkutter. As soon as my kids are asleep Imma go and spend some quality time with it. I asked for no adjustments other than the inspections. I want to see how Yamaha setup the bass. I know my first one was professionally setup before it was given to me.

It’s funny, is has that one knob that is different in style than the others… is that for the piezo pickup??

Hope your kids go to sleep soon

That’s the variable mid with the switch. It’s Nathan’s secret weapon. It’s pretty common now but back in 2005-2006 that was a big deal.

Yeah, check it out, based on your gift to me, thanks again.

You know how it would be weird if you saw high schoolers on the playground with the little kids? My point? You no longer belong here. You will be missed, so check in every now and again. Great job, @Al1885

High schoolers…

The Fonz…

@Al1885 is a long-time player who never went through B2B, ‘cause he didn’t need it. He got turned on to the forum because it’s a sweet, sweet hang.

He is the man. Our very own Fonz.

Heyyyyyyyy! :+1: :+1:
