Show Us Your Basses (Part 2)

Thanks, but Iā€™m all set for P goodness right now. Plus, Iā€™ve got a new P/MM custom being made. Iā€™ll be lucky if I see it this year, though. :pensive:

They were made ~2006-2008ish. Maybe til 2010.
Not sold in US, only Fender Japan markets in Asia.
They come up used here and there but are quite rare.

Hey John,

Where did you source that Pearloid pickguard for the blue Jazz? I get a bit nervous when ordering guards for MIJ models as they often donā€™t fit with the screw hole locations.

I am having a hard time finding an all black pickguard for my Fender Japan WAL-62 jazz bass. Any thoughts? (also, thanks in advance!)

By the way, John, you werenā€™t wrong about the Dimarzio ā€œHeavy Driveā€ pupsā€¦ they are hot. I quite like it as exhibits something a little different than the standard Fender MIJ pickups but they are unmistakably hotter than any other Jazz I have.

But note when they get overwhelmed they suspend taking orders. So you have to keep checking back.
I just sent a tracing to them a week or so ago and this wasnā€™t up then but havenā€™t heard from them so not sure whatā€™s up.

You basically trace out your current one and send it in and they email you with a price and how to pay. Iā€™ve done elseverap like that.

Had to go look, lol. Ya left them in the burst but tamed them with Dā€™Addario tapes. Sounds very good to me this way. I had reg rounds in for a while but to aggressive for my style of music playing anyway.

Still very new to playing. Visited GC with my sights set on leaving with a used Squier CV ā€˜60s p - just wasnā€™t sure if I wanted it in olympic white or the sonic blue. Well, sat down with both, and liked them both. My eyes started wandering around the wall & I was captured by this Ibanez TMB310 Talman in turquoise sparkle (looks green to me). Plugged it in and almost instantly fell in love with it. Then I saw the price tag at $100+ less than the Squierā€™s and fell even more in love lol being active, itā€™s more than enough for me to learn & grow into without being intimidating. Also upgraded my shitty silvertone 20 watt amp to a Rumble 40. Iā€™m having a great day

Well my bass is coming, itā€™s being made by Dan Thompson. He just put up a video and talk about how much pleasure he gets when making the bass. No, actually he was taking about how YouTube and Amazon screwed him out of his income, lol.

Anyways I just grabbed the clips and make a little montage little video. Enjoy!
