Yeah, it’s funny how easy it is to get used to having the vast tonal range of an onboard preamp!
Passives are very cool, though, and zero (battery) maintenance required.
Enjoy your new lovely!

My 2014 stream. Active pickups and needs a battery, passive controls.
I kind of like passive basses. I actually like individual volume and tone controls for each pickup best. I have one bass like that, and you can get tones like that I haven’t been able to replicate with an EQ, internal or external.
I tend to dial the bridge back on tone and keep the neck bright.
The only onboard EQ I mess a lot with is the Tone Capsule
Same here.
So, since my other post was a “teaser”, I better follow up with a few more pics… although I think I cancel my plans to become a professional bass photographer again
4 different woods involved (European walnut, American walnut, maple, ebony) and that bass just siiiiiiiiiiiiings. And the craftsmanship is simply impeccable.
Really liking the grain on this one. So cool that it starts at the bridge. Looks like an amazing piece of gear @joergkutter and yes I do feel a bit jealous
The luthier showed me several pieces of wood he had in his shop and this one resonated the most with me. This is the cool part about a “custom” bass - you can really make it “yours”
You realize this is a Dutch bass, Paul!?!
Noooooo, please don’t go there… I also want a De Gier bass. So many good bass builders from Holland
Didn’t realize
Oh, yes, very nice as well…
You need to support the local talent and economy
For some more “inspiration”
I told you I’d fix it tomorrow, so you don’t need to keep reminding me every six months.
That looks very nice indeed. Time to go hide the bank cards!!
Nice wood!
I am glad this is a bass forum
Finally together in the same frame, pretty much hard to find in one place the three musketeers, lol.
Sick!!!
You should get a Stingray, Bongo and Sterling in the shot too
