I really don’t know where else to put this. You have all quickly become like family to me, so I guess here is just as appropriate as anywhere else, yeah?
Today, I am celebrating 6 years of sobriety. That’s right, an Irish guy with a drinking problem. I know it is a rare thing, but sadly it is true. Hi, my name is David McKnight, and I am a 6 year sober alcoholic/drug addict.
It’s a long story, lots of sorrow not worth repeating, but I made it, by God’s grace. No, we made it. We? Yup, my wife is 6 years sober as well!
Thank you for the abundant joy you’ve all brought. Thanks to @JoshFossgreen for helping me to harness my impulses into music in a manner that demands that bass be a life long companion. Thank you, my beloved wife for working through the pain and the shite right by my side, you and me against the world.
To say I’m alive is beyond a miracle, but to say thank you to all of you is our reward in and of itself. Sure wish I would have learned to sip whiskey like a gentleman but I think I’ll be the most wicked bass player to ever cross strings instead.
We are here when the demons scream. You are right that a family can be found in like-interest. Bass is our drug and we are all in this together. Lean brother.
Congratulations to you both. That’s an awesome achievement.

Recovery opened the gates of hell and let me out !”
