Yep!! “New”, no, in that I bought it second hand, but new to me. I also think it looks really cool - very Rock ‘n’ Roll
Absolutely. Nirvana were of the period just after I left university. They bring back memories of a crappy flat I rented in the post-industrial UK Midlands (near Birmingham), getting p155ed most weekends with friends, smoking too many cigarettes, unsuccessfully chasing after my sisters friends, and putting on the Monday morning suit to try and climb the corporate ladder
I was playing this one and ready to record last November, but then I travelled and started focusing on other stuff, so it’s taken me a while to get this recorded.
Part of the delay was the decision to play it with a pick. Krist used a pick on the original, and I’m trying to get better with one, so it felt right.
Using a pick presents way more challenges for muting, so I had to change the way I played the main riff. It forces you to think much more about your fretting hand, so it’s a great exercise for someone who mostly uses fingerstyle. Listening to the isolated bass, I can hear some points where I didn’t mute too well, but hopefully it mostly gets lost in the mix.
I have one last cover for the day - this time from the 50 Songs list. Nevermind came out while I was in high school. It’s so cool to be able to start playing songs I really wanna play!
This one pushed me, but I think I was up for the challenge. Well, at least I managed to keep the train on the tracks.
I’m going to keep pushing and learning new songs - hopefully my technique will continue to improve.
My critique here is your notes are a bit “choppy” verses more fluid transitions (which are better in the chorus actually). Small nit but does effect overall sound.
