Perhaps, but when Team Canada had 2 open- net chances that they missed (Mackinnon had one of them), then it’s sour grapes. It’s sorta’ like in boxing where one could win every round on points, but it does not matter if the opponents knocks ya’ out. Both teams knew how the OT format works (which stinks) but that should be more incentive to make it count in the first 60 minutes… 'cause in OT it 's anyone’s game regardless of how lopsided the general play might have been. Canada did outplay the U.S. But they didn’t OUTSCORE them.
I don’t know, but did Mackinnon even congratulate the victors in any interview? (not saying he didn’t, I just did not see it.)
Agree, it will be more fire-in-the-belly for Nate to bring a sort of “vengeance-winning” attitude for the Av’s… that’s a good thing for us
I love team sports. Mainly football (soccer). I’m an official supporters board member for my local professional team. In fact, I have a board meeting tonight. Funnily enough, my friends who have got me into playing music all hate sports.
Holy crap. We’re behind. Just finished Wales / Italy. Was expecting France to walk all over. Was expecting Italy to win easily, and that did not happen.
MacK didn’t miss from that spot tonight, eh? Tied it up from right there with 90 seconds to go, then the Avs finished off the Wild and are on their way to the Conference Finals.
I just watched the highlights on YouTube while eating my breakfast. I’m happy for the Avs (they’re a great team right now), but I was silently pulling for the Wild, given what has happened in Minneapolis recently. They could have used some positive juice.
I am hoping for a Canadian team to be in the Finals, but I think we might see Avs-Canes. Also silently pulling for Buffalo for Josh Doan. I want to see a Doan raise the cup, or at least make it to the Finals. I was a season ticket holder of the Coyotes, and saw his dad, Captain Shane, play hundreds of games. The closest the ‘Yotes came to the Finals was a 7 game conference championship series with Detroit. Near the end of game 6 in Detroit, Shane jumped over the sliding Detroit goalie to avoid a possible injury to him, and crashed into the boards, separating a shoulder. He couldn’t go in game 7 at home. Bryzgalov took that night off (it was obvious that his head wasn’t anywhere near the game) and the ‘Yotes lost 4-0.
And then the knucklehead Flyers gave Bryzgalov a one-year $6.9 million contract. He played so poorly, the Flyers benched him and he wound up back in the KHL with the St. Petersburg team. He not only got benched there, he didn’t even dress for the playoffs. One game, you could see him in a box with his son, paying ZERO attention to the game. He disappeared into the ether that was his brain, and I never saw or heard of him again. Good riddance.
I am hoping the Avs go all the way this year. I’m not even going to bother checking where my team (the Sharks) ended up in the conference. Being a Sharks fan is a hard life
I think of this episode of IT Crowd every time there’s a conversation about sports. “Did you see that ludicrous display last night?” That episode was brilliant! I’m a big fan of the series, and specially Moss.
Team sports for me are Meh x 10,000. People running after a ball is just boring and pointless to me, no offence, it is just me, I don’t like it. I see how others like it and have a lot of fun.
Being from Brazil means I have been exposed to more football than I can handle. I hate samba carnival and have no interest in football. I get my dopamine from music, books, art, movies and nature. I love watching documentaries. I prefer to watch a documentary about cheetah chasing prey instead of people chasing balls.
But I like different kinds of sport, like archery. I once tried golf and it was fun, but it is not for me, because I don’t like being in the sun. Just to clarify, I wouldn’t enjoy at all watching, rather doing it myself, and not for competition. I once tried shooting and I liked it. I’m good at hitting targets, but I suck at having a ball thrown at me.
