It’d be interesting to know if they have a roadmap for improving the quality of the AI transcriptions. It’s handy now to get you started on a song and in some cases it does a decent job. If they’re training it to improve, that would settle once and for all UG vs Songsterr when those tabs get to UG pro level.
There is no interaction between your bass and tonelib so no, it’s just the rocksmith game style gui without the accuracy scoring.
Thx for the info
If the songs are top quality then its worth it.
Tonelib sounds great to
I’m a starter bassplayer who wants to start playing full song.
Gonna give these a try
Even if you don’t like neither Rocksmith nor Tonelib Jam, you can use this tool to extract the tabs from all songs: RocksmithToTab download | SourceForge.net
And then 10€ is very much worth it!
That’s awesome. I used to enjoy playing Rock Band Beatles with my kids, with the full band set up, but having them playing a proper bass is just another great new skill for them. Of course they’ll be needing a gaming PC to practise on to give you a chance of seeing yours again!
THANK YOU Morkai! I was afraid of that, the list being outdated. And while I’m all for some Ride of the Valkyries, everything else listed sucks.
That also means no SLAYER / War Ensemble. I was almost willing to go for it just for my favorite SLAYER tune… but it’s not in the DLC SLAYER pack, just the old list of no-longer-included songs.
Ah well. I very much appreciate the accurate info, thank you! I think I’m out on RS Remastered for now. Paying $33 for just the platform to then buy $3 individual songs doesn’t sound like my best move.
yeah, all the linkin park stuff is gone.
and customsforge are real careful about not allowing people to upload songs that are, or have been DLC. Understandable since they aren’t technically an ‘approved’ relationship. Ubisoft just pretends they don’t exist while relying on them heavily to add value to the base game.
A similar thing happened in the pinball world. There used to be a great bit of software called Pinball Arcade that had dozens of real world pins in it, and it was fantastic! It was the only way to play some of the more rare classic pins.
Then they stopped optimizing their code, and deadly flipper lag crept in on later systems as emulation was used. And then they lost all the licenses (except for Stern) and then whole program went away.
Now there are other pinball software games, but they might have 1 or 2 “real” pinball tables, and the rest are fantasy bullshit that no pinball tournament player is interested in.
There is a hobbyist scene around a MAME type program, PinMAME and others, but honestly it seems to me those folks spend more time acquiring roms they aren’t supposed to have, and dealing with technical issues than they do playing. It’s like the hobby is 75% work for the 25% play. At least that’s how it was for me. Bleh.
I’m a software engineer by day, but it’s like the shoemaker whose kids have no shoes. I’m just not interested in working on that stuff in my spare time.
So for pinball, I started buying real machines, until I filled up this townhouse with them. And I have real in-person sanctioned tournaments here. And completely dropped any video pinball.
Anyway blah blah blah, sorry. I should go practice my shiny new bass, and stop thinking about this other stuff!
I end all pinball tournament announcements with the phrase “Play More Pinball!” and I should expand that into the bass world… “Play More Bass!” or maybe “More Bass Practice!” Hah.
Okay… that’s pretty frickin awesome.
FYI…
We created a shared folder on Google Drive, we already have a list of things in:
More to come.
If you need an invite… ping me or @Morkai … or check discord / rocksmith channel.
The RS2014 you can now get again has a very stripped down music library, as they don’t have the licenses anymore. As far as I know, its basically only their training tracks (probably still in that one big songs.psarc).
Oh, wow! Didn’t know that - thanks!
Still, it’s the gate keeper to the offical DLC’s … so if you want those (only 1201 remaining), it makes sense…
Yeah… would be fun to get our hands on the original ones also… but I highly doubt Ubi would be nice and provide them as DLCs
They can’t, even if they wanted to. They don’t have the licenses anymore.
Yeah, I know. Which is unfortunate.
Only way to get more songs is through R+ and a sub… and from what I can read, most people suggest that you do the sub through Steam and not their site as there are reports of people being billed after having cancelled the subscription.
Take it with a grain of salt maybe… but to keep in mind!
Songsterr note.
Songsterr does in fact update it songs, I don’t know when or how often but two days ago a song I often play , ‘A Passage To Bangkok’ was updated and its better than before and it seems they got it right.
It is the opening bar and that sequence every time it comes around.
My favorite herb song, Sweet leaf is also a great song but, A Passage To Bangkok is much more exciting to play.
Late to the party here, but my solution to the UG vs. Songsterr debate was to use the free versions of both, and spend my money on Guitar Pro, discounted during Black Friday. I get that this solution won’t be for everyone, but it’s the one that continues to work for me. Not to mention, I can transcribe sheet music from other sources, like physical books, YouTube videos, or even by ear, and make sure it sounds right before investing hours into learning and practicing the songs. Added bonus is that this is a surprisingly fun way of learning musical theory by osmosis.
