Upgrade Day! Anyone Else Upgrading?

I look at this not so much as an upgrade, but as a great expansion of sound and tonal possibilities. I ordered it last September and, as expected, it just arrived. I’m recovering from one surgery and another on the 29th (all is good- no need for anything else on that) so not the best arrival timing for getting to work with it, but I’ll get to it.

Congrats, Booker. Sweet score! Hope you feel better real soon so you can get busy with it!

Congrats!!

Curious to hear how you like it!

From a male mammal haptic point of view, these things are so “minimal” and “underwhelming”(like the Caveman Audio stuff also) and it makes you wonder whether they do anything at all :joy:

Not doing it yet but my mixer power switch is getting flaky, dammit. Going to have to take it apart and repair at some point.

I just put a Blue Perloid pickguard on my Sterling Darkray after I saw Stev Fargan’s pickguard. I put the Neon Blue DRs on there about a month ago. The seem to match the bling ring pretty well!

That looks awesome!

Looks great! Although it’s not really a DarkRay anymore… More like a BluRay

Good one! If I named it, that’s what it would be!

String through body conversion , just for the heck of it, looked like a fun project.
My excuse: bought some gotoh string ferrules while ordering some parts a thomann to get free shipping :yum:

Ferrules installed:

finished it off with a nice black annodised pickguard

Which ones did you get exactly?

They are 9,6 mm , but did not dare to drill 9,5 mm on the body afraid that they would fall out when not used.
So drilled 9 mm , that was a bit too tight , and used a dremel to slightly enlarge the drill holes by 0,2 mm or so.
Nice tight fit :+1:

Cool! You answered my next question about drilling size too!

Small upgrade to my new to me Ric. I swapped the white plastic pick

If you read through the Motu M6 reviews on Thomann, you’ll see that there is an issue with a really loud noise when disconnecting / switching off the Motu or powering down the PC.
I have that too with my M4, when I forget to switch off the speakers first.

In the reviews it says that it is not as loud with these cables: Cordial CFM 6 MV Audiokabel

Don’t know why though (in the reviews ist says: capacitors). Will test myself with those cables soon…

The 305’s will also take a balanced TRS input if you want to go that way (usually cheaper)

These JBL’s are stealth superheroes in my opinion. Very happy with mine. Still think you should consider the 308 though

Yeah… I viewed tons of videos of reviews and comments.

It will have to be:
ON:
PC - M6 - Speakers

OFF:
Speakers - M6 - PC.

Was also warned that they should be UPSed because fluctuations might make it clack as well. Ah… and OFF/ON should also include volume to 0… according to one of the YT Videos.
