And just as heavy
It is the way.
All this 3D printing! Surely it’s easier, nicer and more eco to get a nice piece of wood, sand and oil it and there you go. No fancy files, printers or plastic needed!
I just scored a couple of sets of TI Jazz Rounds 43-101 Super Long (JR364) for $71. 09 each.
I cut them to length for my 34” basses, and they feel and play great.
gimmesomestrings.com is having a 10% off Black Friday sale on all string brands.
I ended up getting the Purple O-bass in the end.
It arrived yesty, after missing delivery on Monday and them not putting it on the truck on Tuesday (they call it stormy Monday, Tuesday’s just as bad, I got my bass on Wednesday and now I’m not so mad).
I had a quick look when I got home, nothing broken, nice finish, mystery roundwound strings, the electrics work and it sounds good, comes with a gig bag and a spare black pickguard.
Then I put it away and will wrap it for Xmas.
I’ll do a report then
Is there a discount code? I put my Optima Gold string set but nothing happened.
Thanks @MikeC
Yep, the discount code is HOLIDAY10.
Go get ‘em, @Al1885, and have a great Thanksgiving.
Thanks @MikeC happy thanksgiving
Yeah just picked up the Optima Unique studio gold string and the J344 TI. Thanks.
This is one the Classic Vibes I’ve modified significantly; FSR Lake Placid Blue '60 Jazz Bass.

The Kala solid body UBass. I was going to put the red P pickup on it but when I grabbed it it’s/ they ( I have 2 PJ sets) are both X series and I don’t have the wiring kit for it on hand.
The tuners are the graphtech Ratio tuner
Bridge Babicz FCH 4
And the pickup is the Les Clapool
I already have the dogal string set. Can’t wait to hear how it sounds.
I’m always upgrading something or have plans to upgrade something. It’s like a highly infectious disease resistant to all but my bank account or line of credit.
Not such a fan of gold, usually: but it works really well with the red!
I have the active EMG P pickup in my Blackstar Bass (which has about the same size as your Kala), and it sounds surprisingly grown up!
Gold always works with red: the colors associated with royalty.
Right on, @Al1885.
Also, McDonalds!
Sorry, massive nope. As a creative director, I deal with accurate brand colors as a requisite of profession. Close ain’t close enough.
Here is a brief of McDonsld’s actual brand colors.
The arches, resembling a “M” for McDonald’s, are also seen as a symbol of the welcoming nature of the brand. Color psychology. The use of red and yellow in the logo is strategic. Red is stimulating and associated with appetite and energy, while yellow is associated with happiness and friendliness.
