Upgrade Day! Anyone Else Upgrading?

Red… Royalty?
Maybe that’s why they finally ditched red for green in France and only pretended it was for a greener image

Somewhere down the road (at the end of the Middle Ages), red was replaced by blue as the color for royalty. Here’s a little article about the subject (using Google translate)

I guess Asia didn’t get the memo. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I just put the Dogal strings on and already love it, it sounds like a normal set of full size string, which is the big hurdle for a 23" scale bass. While it’s not cheap but it’s worth it. The original Kala strings has this nasal overtone not very bright.

Hopefully I get to set intonation and play some tonight.

Cool!

My Blackstar Bass has 23.46″.

These are the strings: Carry-on Bass Strings - Carry-on Playing

Winding Wound with nickel-plated steel wrap wire
Wiring Hex-shaped steel core wire

About 20€

Maybe for the next one to try??!

For happiness and friendliness I like the color green. Green is the color of money. Most merchants are happier to see you and serve you in a friendly manner if you have $$$$.

LOL…that was me when I was younger and had more anger issues. Now I’m old and far more peaceful. If they would’ve just legalized pot 50 years ago my entire life may have been more peaceful.

This is the before post. Planning to Geezer this one up. Should be a fun project. May eventually do a darker stain for the neck/headstock but probably not this go around. Also, sort of looking for a new pickguard. Anybody got a pickguard idea?

Parts list: Black Baddass tuners, Black string tree, DR Black Beauty strings, GZR pickups, black with brass saddles Wilkinson bridge, black control knobs.

I’d go with Fralin, @JerryP. I researched P pups heavily.

Fralin was what I was going to install on a Sire P5 I had in my sights before I got my Cutlass instead.

If I remember correctly, some people here like DiMarzio precision pickups… @howard, I think?

I’m looking for something that will drop in without routing or body modifications. I have no problem soldering.
