Actually this one just popped up in my newsfeed. Patrick James Eggle Oz-t also has one pickup.

me too ! but also I like having only one pickup for a very minimal instrument
I love both Telecasters and Esquires
exactly the kind of guitar that I love. very ZZ Top.
One of my favorite colors ![]()
Bridge humbuckers sound awesome. Love that sound.
Upgraded my trusty old Stream today. Took out the Bridge Humbucker (sorry Howard) and replaced it with a Reverse P. Now it’s sporting two EMG 35P4X pickups and it sounds great.
The strings are a pair of LaBellas that have been on it forever, and they feel sticky, but I have a set of Thomastik Infeld on the way, thought it was time to give them a shot.
Since it is dual reverse Ps kind of like a Spector, I may name her Ale after Alejandra Villareal of the Warning, who is great.
You will love the TI’s. You absolutely will have to set your bass up for the strings. But once set up, they will sing like angels.
Upgrade day is almost upon me. My Thomastik Infelds are out for delivery.
Do I put them on my stream with the oldish Labella’s or the FGN with the Bass Boomers.
It’s killing me
I vote FGN
Half of my Hipshots are in the air over the pacific now. Unless they shipped them sea mail, in which case I will be pissed.
The TIs are on, and boy does they make me sound like I know what I’m doing. They sound really good on the FGN with the quarter pounders. As has been mentioned I may need a set up, I get a little buzz on the A & D strings around the third fret, but it’s not much. I will let the neck settle to the new tension and setup tomorrow.
They feel great too. The bass sounds great now, even though it is sparkly.
What flavor TIs? Rounds or flats? What gauge?
I’ve got a set of rounds I mean to try.
Flats, light guage, 100-70-56-43 I think if I remember.

My favourite strings
The strings on the Dingwall were totally dead after a year of hard use.
Fitted a new set of stainless strings and zingy goodness has been restored but I had to work the Gorgomyte overtime to clean up the frets!
I must have layed on too much Mojo during lockdown.
Damn hard to get your mojo groovin without a little funk.

Sweet. Looks like my eBay Hipshots are being delivered about nine days early.
They took over a week to make it out of the US. They have been in Japan for less than 48 hours, have already cleared customs, and are being delivered either today or tomorrow.
edit: 10h later it’s here. Sweet. Upgrade time.
My Squier has a loose button. So at lunch I bought wood glue, tooth picks, pulled a pushpin out of the bulletin board at work, now I’m ready to operate
A year ago I would have wasted money on a luthier. This bass journey isn’t what I expected.
On the 51 front, bass, strings, bridge, pots all on the way. All I need are strap locks and the Fralin

Yeah, go for it!
wood glue
I would hold on the glue. The toothpick will be more than sufficient.

As a carpenter I disagree. Sorry
